(Rancho Cucamonga) The Governing Board for the Chaffey Community College District announced its officers for 2010. The announcement was made at the regular Board meeting on Thursday, December 10, 2009.

The 2009-2010 Chaffey College Governing Board Officers are:

            President – Gary George
            Vice President – Katie Roberts
            Clerk – Paul Gomez
            Member – Lee McDougal
            Immediate Past President – Kathy Brugger

Gary George, external affairs manager at Verizon, has served as a Governing Board member since 2000. Prior to being a trustee, George was a member of the Chaffey College Foundation Board. Katie Roberts, a retired Ontario Police captain holds the Vice President post. Paul Gomez, Governing Board clerk, has been a trustee since 1990. Lee McDougal, the city manager of Montclair, will serve as Governing Board member. Lastly, Kathy Brugger who was the Governing Board president last year, will be hold the title of immediate past president.

“This past year was quite challenging with budget cuts, increasing enrollment and an unstable economy,” said Dr. Shannon, superintendent/president. I believe that even with this, our governing board will lead the college in the right direction. He added, “the Board members are truly dedicated to Chaffey College and student success.

The role of the governing board is to directly represent the community of the college’s district in determining policies and making decisions, which govern the operation of the district and the college.
