For Immediate Release

Dr. Robert H. Bell, Chaffey College Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer of the Chino Campus, has announced his resignation effective March 4, 2008. He has accepted a position with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System as the Senior Vice President, Academic and Student Affairs.

Dr. Bell has been an administrator in higher education for 25 years. He came to Chaffey College in January 2003 as the Vice President of Student Services where he was responsible for supervising the planning and development of student services programs.

In December 2005, Bell was named Chief Administrative Officer of the Chino Campus. Appointing Bell was the first and most integral step of the development of the campus. Over the past two years Bell has enhanced relationships with city officials, education leaders and residents of the Chino Valley on behalf of Chaffey College. He has also served on the board of directors of the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The newest building of the Chaffey College Chino Campus is scheduled to open at the end of March 2008. Through Bell's leadership, he has guided the college through the successful completion of the construction stage at the College Park facility. Dr. Teresa Hull, Dean of the Chino Campus, and Bell together developed a comprehensive education, facilities, and staffing plan for the new location.

"Dr. Bell has been an asset to the college and our community and we wish him well in his new position," said Dr. Henry Shannon, superintendent/president. "This is an exciting time for the college with the opening of the new Chino Campus. Dr. Hull will continue to lead the day-to-day operations at the Chino Campus."

In the comments made to the Chaffey College community, Bell said he has been "fortunate to work with outstanding staff and students at Chaffey". In his new position he is "looking forward to making a difference and to the new experiences the role might bring." He also plans to spend time with his wife Victoria and two sons and daughter.

The college is hosting a reception in his honor on Thursday, February 7 at Los Serranos Country Club for local officials, community members, and the college staff. Join the Chaffey College faculty and staff in wishing Dr. Bell the best as he moves to Louisiana.
