The Homeland/National Security Certificate program prepares students for a variety of careers in the criminal justice and homeland/national security systems. Courses within the program acquaint students with prevention and response to threats against the United States and its interests. Students will understand the roles of local, state, and federal agencies to properly secure the United States. Students will gain an understanding of the United States intelligence system, as well as transportation and border security.

Requirements for the Homeland and National Security Certificate:
CJ 1 Introduction to the Criminal Justice System 3
HNS 400 Introduction to Homeland and National Security 3
HNS 401 Intelligence Analysis and Security Management 3
HNS 402 Transportation and Border Security 3
PS 7 International Relations 3
Plus one course from the following:
COMSTD 74 Intercultural Communication 3
GEOG 1 World Regional Geography 3
HIST 7 History of the Middle East 3
PHIL 82 Introduction to Monotheistic Religions 3
SOC 15 Ethnic and Race Relations: U.S. and Global Perspectives 3

All courses required for a certificate must be completed with a minimum grade of C.
