Ultralight Lands at Chaffey

The faculty and staff of the Chaffey College Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) program are pleased to announce that they have acquired a new TL Utralight StingSport 2000 Light Sport Aircraft. This addition to the program, purchased with Federal occupational education funds, will have a positive impact for years to come; allowing the program to continue in the Chaffey tradition of aviation education excellence begun in 1928.

The new StingSport allows students to gain hands-on experience with cutting edge technology, such as a fully composite (carbon fiber) fuselage, a glass cockpit (electronic instrument displays), an autopilot system, LED (light emitting diode) navigation and landing lights, a Rotax (new technology) engine, a ground-adjustable 3-bladed propeller, and a ballistic parachute recovery system. This StingSport is certified by the FAA as a Light Sport Aircraft, which is a new category designed for recreational aircraft. Chaffey College is one of the few programs in the southwestern region to have this new technology. The addition of this aircraft will not only ensure that students are exposed to the latest technology, but will also continue to attract students to our AMT program who are serious about their education and careers in aviation.
