The Chaffey College Dental Assisting Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The Commission on Dental Accreditation can be contacted at (312) 440-4653 or at 211 Chicago Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611-2678. The Commission’s web address is: The program is designed to prepare students for the Dental Assisting National Board Examination to become Certified Dental Assistants as well as the RDA Combined Exam to earn the RDA license. The program is also approved by the Dental Board of California. This One-year full-time program begins each fall.

Program Highlights

  • Upon completion of the Registered Dental Assisting Program students will acquire a Dental Assisting Certificate of Completion, the California Radiation Safety Certificate, Pit & Fissure Certificate and the Coronal Polishing Certificate (must pass RDA Examination to activate).
  • Students are able to work with the latest dental techniques through supervised practice sessions at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Students work with student dentists and experience using techniques and skills required to be a successful dental team member.
  • Internships at local dental offices provide practical, hands-on experience.
  • Community interaction such as delivering presentations to help educate school children in oral hygiene and nutrition and meeting with local dentists for career advisement.
  • Students are eligible to join the American Dental Assistants Association, California Dental Assistant Association, and Pomona Valley Dental Assistant Society.

The Chaffey Dental Assisting Program is soliciting third-party comments for its August 27-28, 2019 Commission on Dental Accreditation Site Visit.. In accordance with the policy of the Commission and the US Department of Education, all interested parties have the opportunity to provide comments to the Commission. Comments must be received in writing prior to June 26, 2019 in the Commission office. All comments must be signed and signatures will be removed from comments prior to forwarding to the Program. Additionally, comments must pertain only to the standards for the particular program or policies and procedures used in the Commission’s Accreditation process. Comments will be screened by Commission staff for relevancy. Download the Posting Form.
