Digital Accessibility Statement

Digital Accessibility Statement of Purpose

At Chaffey College, we are driven by a mission to improve lives and our communities through inclusive education. We believe that digital equity is a cornerstone of student success, and we are dedicated to ensuring that our digital services, programs, and activities provide an integrated experience for all individuals, including those with disabilities.

In alignment with the 2024 Title II update to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the College has adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as our institutional technical standard. This commitment ensures that our digital ecosystem remains a space where innovation and access coexist.

Institutional Standards

Chaffey College operates under the standard that all digital materials made, used, or shared across its administrative and instructional platforms follow the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines. These standards are followed in accordance with federal updates to ensure that everyone has fair access to the College’s digital services. To maintain institutional alignment with these rules, all digital content put online or changed after the April 24, 2026, deadline must meet these standards at the time it is shared. Older materials and existing digital services are part of a steady, organized cleanup and removal process to ensure we keep moving toward a fully inclusive digital environment.

Governing Our Standards

To ensure institutional accountability and lower barriers to access, Chaffey College adheres to the following implementation mandates:

  • New and Updated Content: All web content, mobile applications, and instructional materials within Canvas published or significantly changed after April 24, 2026, must conform to WCAG 2.1 AA standards at the time of publication. This applies to all documents, video media, and third-party software integrated into our systems.
  • Legacy Content and Remediation: For digital assets published prior to the April 24th deadline, the College has an ongoing, organized remediation and removal process. This managed approach allows the College to prioritize high-impact materials while ensuring a continuous path toward full accessibility.
  • Integrated Experience: We prioritize "born accessible" design to ensure that accessibility is a fundamental feature of the user experience, rather than a correction made later.
