Whether you aspire to be the next Mikhail Baryshnikov, Jennifer Lopez or Julianne Hough, Chaffey College can get you moving toward your dreams. The dance program provides coursework for dance majors and non-dance majors alike. You can pursue an Associate of Arts degree in Dance with an option to transfer to a four-year college or university.
The program is open to all dancers, whether you're advancing your dance education and artistic goals, developing career interests and training in the commercial dance field, discovering cultural and arts interests or enjoying physical activity and exercise. Students have opportunities to participate in technique and theory courses in a variety of dance genres including ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop, social dance, dance history and appreciation, and movement for the stage, as well as dance performance and choreography through dance production and repertory.
It doesn't matter whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced dancer. Our professional dance faculty are here to give you top-notch instruction. You can perform during an annual main stage dance concert, which is choreographed by faculty, student choreographers and guest professionals. The show features a variety of dance styles and cultures. During our annual fall student choreography showcase, intermediate and advanced dance students get a chance to choreograph and perform for a public audience. You'll also get a chance to collaborate with the theater and music departments while performing in main stage musicals and other productions.
