Yearly modifications can be made to program requirements. Students that maintain continuous enrollment at Chaffey College may use the requirements at the time of their enrollment. Please meet with a Chaffey College Counselor for more information.
The PTA Program pre-requisites are listed below. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA in BIOL 20 Human Anatomy and BIOL 22 Human Physiology or courses deemed equivalent are required to apply to the program. In addition, for ALL required pre-requisite PTA Program coursework a minimum of 2.8 GPA is required to apply to the program. All coursework must be completed with a grade of “C” or higher. (“C-” grades are not accepted.) Applications will be randomly selected for acceptance into the PTA Program. Please use the PTA Pre-requisite Advising Check Sheet located below and/or meet with a Chaffey College Counselor for more information.
Recency requirement: BIOL 20 Human Anatomy, BIOL 22 Physiology within 5 years of the application period. Download the PTA Program Pre-requisite Advising Check Sheet in for more information.
Online Science Labs: Biology science online courses and labs will be accepted.

Satisfactory grade (“C” or better) in a math course at or above the level of Intermediate Algebra (e.g. Algebra 2, Integrated Math 3 or higher from high school or college level. STAT 10 (Elementary Statistics) or SCSCI 10 (Statistics for Social Sciences) is recommended. |

Graduation from a physical therapist assistant education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), 3030 Potomac Ave., Suite 100, Alexandria, Virginia 22305-3085; phone; 703-706-3245; accreditation@apta.org is necessary for eligibility to sit for the licensure examination, which is required in all states.

Candidate for Accreditation is an accreditation status of affiliation with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education that indicates the program may matriculate students in technical/professional courses. Achievement of Candidate for Accreditation status does not assure that the program will be granted Initial Accreditation.
