With a walkie talkie in hand and a smile on his face, Troy Ament often told people he was "living the dream" during the 13 years he served Chaffey College. The associate superintendent of administrative services and emergency operations died Jan. 11.

For 11 hours a day, Jason Boultwood sits behind the wheel of an 18-wheel tractor trailer hauling at least 80,000 pounds of freight across the contiguous U.S. When he settles in for the night, he climbs into his truck cabin and logs on for his Chaffey College classes to study and do assignments.

Chaffey's "Welcome Week" for spring included a variety of activities from transfer, mental health and financial aid workshops, to food trucks and resource fairs.
