Chaffey College Announces 2026-2027 Governing Board Officers, Gary C. Ovitt Elected President

 The Governing Board for the Chaffey Community College District announced its officers for 2026-2027 at its regular meeting on July 16.

The Chaffey College Governing Board officers are:

• President – Gary C. Ovitt – representing Ontario
• Vice President – Lee C. McDougal – representing Fontana
• Clerk – Andrea Dutton – representing Rancho Cucamonga
• Member – Dr. Deana Olivares-Lambert – representing Upland
• Immediate Past President – Gloria Negrete-McLeod – representing Chino Valley

Gary C. Ovitt was elected to the board in November 2015. He previously served on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors representing the fourth district from 2004-2014, as well as mayor and councilman for the city of Ontario.

Lee C. McDougal was named vice president and Andrea Dutton will serve as clerk. Dr. Deana Olivares-Lambert will serve as member and voting representative to the San Bernardino County Committee on School District Organization. Gloria Negrete-McLeod was named immediate past president and alternate representative for the county school district organization.

“Our Governing Board is made up of dedicated leaders who care deeply about Chaffey College and the future of our students,” said Chaffey College Superintendent/President Henry Shannon. “I am confident this leadership reorganization will build on that commitment and keep us moving forward on our strategic goals.”

The Governing Board represents the community of the college’s district in determining policies and making decisions which govern the operation of the district and the college. 

Ovitt expressed gratitude for Negrete-McLeod’s service to Chaffey College during the last year.

“Gloria, we want to thank you for the excellent job you’ve done and we appreciate that.”

Olivares-Lambert and Andrea Dutton took the oath of office after retaining their seats in the June primary election. Both ran unopposed. Olivares-Lambert’s daughter, Malaika Lambert, administered the oath of office for her mother.
