Open enrollment for CalPERS Health Plans

Open enrollment for the CalPERS health plans will begin on Monday, September 20, 2021, and will conclude on Friday, October 15, 2021.  Any plan changes will be effective January 1, 2022.  This is a passive enrollment; therefore, no action is required by you unless you elect to change medical plans, enroll in a medical plan, or add eligible dependents not previously enrolled in your medical plan.

Effective January 1, 2022, CalPERS health is making the following changes to the PPO plans:

  • PERSCare and PERS Choice will transition to a PERS Platinum plan.  This new plan will have a 90/10 benefit design (after deductibles are met) and will have the PERSCare/PERS Choice network.
  • PERS Select will transition to PERS Gold.  This new plan retains the same 80/20 benefit design (after deductibles are met) and will have the PERS Select network.

If you are currently enrolled in PERSCare, PERS Choice or PERS Select and do not wish to change plans due to the above plan design changes, no action is required on your part.
