Process to Apply for CPL

New Students to Chaffey College: Welcome!

Below are the steps to properly apply for Credit for Prior Learning:

1. Apply to Chaffey College.
2. During the application process, select your area of study.
3. Once your application is completely processed, you will receive an email from Chaffey with your student ID, your Chaffey email address, and access to the Chaffey Portal. Access to the portal is needed before continuing to step 4.
4. Complete the Credit for Prior Learning Request Form.

Helpful Information About Processing Times

Students may submit Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) petitions throughout the year. During the summer months (June and July), and winter (December to January) processing times may be extended, as many full-time faculty who support CPL evaluations are not regularly available. Because CPL requests are reviewed on a petition-by-petition basis, timelines may vary depending on faculty availability.
