More than 200 Montclair High School students have maintained good grades, completed college paperwork and performed 20 hours of community service through Chaffey College’s Montclair to College program.

It’s the largest number of students completing the program in its 28-year history, and a 30 percent increase from 2025.

“The commitment that you have demonstrated during this program is all the evidence you need to know that you will be a success in college,” said Chaffey College Governing Board President Gloria Negrete-McLeod.

Hundreds of family members and friends of the graduates gathered at Montclair High School on April 22 to celebrate the 209 students’ achievements. Students enroll in the program for the perks that come with it: a scholarship that covers two years of college tuition, books, fees and parking at Chaffey.

Chaffey College Mayor Javier John Dutrey thanked Chaffey College and the Chaffey Joint Union High School District for their partnership, and congratulated students for completing the program.

“We want to make sure that you succeed in your journey in life, whether you’re going on to college or a trade,” Dutrey said. “We want our Montclair students here to succeed.”

Chaffey College Superintendent/President Henry D. Shannon praised students for choosing to save money on college tuition, rather than going directly into an expensive four-year university.

“Our goal is to help you continue the momentum you have begun in our academic careers. And our goal is to help you do that at Chaffey College — debt free,” he said.
