Andrea Dutton Provisionally Appointed to Chaffey College Governing Board
November 19, 2025
Dear Campus Community,
I am pleased to share that the Chaffey College Governing Board has provisionally appointed retired Chaffey College faculty Andrea Dutton to fill an open vacancy in Governing Board District 1, effective Nov. 10.
Ms. Dutton devoted 37 years of dedicated service to the college as a full-time faculty member and program director for Chaffey’s Radiologic Technology Program before retiring in 2019. During her tenure, she was actively involved on campus, serving on the Chaffey Latino Faculty and Staff Association and the President’s Equity Council.
Ms. Dutton fills the seat previously held by Kathleen Brugger, who recently announced her retirement after serving on the Chaffey College Governing Board for 32 years.
A long-time advocate for community college student success, Ms. Dutton and her late husband, former Senator Bob Dutton, established two scholarships benefiting Chaffey’s Hispanic student population and students within the Rad Tech program in 2020.
Ms. Dutton currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the San Antonio Regional Hospital, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Council Board and the Uplanders Club Board.
She has received numerous recognitions for her volunteer work in the community, including being named a 2009 Educator of the Year by the Inland Empire Hispanic Image Awards and Woman of the Year for the 31st Senate District.
Her dedication to Chaffey College and student success over the years has made a tremendous impact on generations of students in our region. She brings with her a wealth of experience and passion that will surely be a benefit to the Chaffey community.
If voters from Governing Board District 1 do not successfully petition for a special election within 30 days of November 10th, 2025, Ms. Dutton will be sworn in at the December 18th, 2025 Chaffey College Governing Board meeting.
Sincerely,
Henry D. Shannon, Ph.D.
