Chaffey College Takes Top Ranking for Return on Investment

The College Futures Foundation has named Chaffey College the No. 4 best college in the Inland Empire for its educational value to students.
The organization’s report “A Regional Look at the ROI of California’s Community and Career Colleges” ranked 327 two-year institutions across the state on students’ out-of-pocket costs and time it takes to recover those costs. Chaffey College students recoup their net costs about a year after graduating, aligning with about 40 percent of the public colleges ranked in the report.
“The cost of a college education should not be a barrier to a successful future,” said Chaffey College Superintendent/President Henry D. Shannon. “We are proud to give our students access to quality instruction, robust support services, state-of-the-art equipment and facilities and a vibrant campus culture, all at a low cost.”
Chaffey College graduates earn an estimated $10,500 more than someone with just a high school diploma, and the median earnings of students 10 years after enrollment is an average of $43,000, the report said.
Almost all of the top 25 colleges in the ranking were California Community Colleges, and all charged less than $5,000 annually.
“At each of these colleges, the typical student is able to recoup their out-of-pocket costs within six months of earning their credential—a clear indicator of strong economic outcomes,” foundation officials said.
Chaffey College first-time college students have access to the Panther Promise, which gives them as much as two years of free tuition. Students also receive support through financial aid and scholarships.
