ZTC/OER Committee

The ZTC/OER Committee advocates for equitable access to course materials through college-wide adoption of zero-cost textbooks, ZTC degree pathways, and low- or no-cost instructional materials and supplies to support student retention, success, and achievement. 

This ZTC/OER committee deals with matters pertaining to equitable access to zero and low-cost course materials and supplies, such as:

• Maintaining up-to-date understanding of statewide legislation and initiatives under ASCCC OERI and communicate relevant information to the campus community.
• Supporting faculty in the adoption of Open Educational Resources through connection with the Textbook Transformation Project, ASCCC OERI Liaisons, and the Library.
• Addressing course material usage in relation to reporting (XB-12), accessibility, licensing/copyright, and other considerations.
• Providing the District with ongoing review and recommendations regarding burden free access to course materials and supplies (Ed Code Title 5 54221)
• Supporting collaboration with campus partners, departments, and faculty in sourcing appropriate zero-cost materials and supplies. 
• Promoting collaboration with campus groups, partners, departments, and other constituents to overcome obstacles with regard to lowering textbook cost under the District's definition of LCT.
• Addressing faculty and student concerns regarding ZTC and LCT course material usage. 
• Advancing professional learning in relation to OER, ZTC, and LCT.

Zoom meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
