SUBMISSIONS

The Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art serves as a learning lab featuring temporary exhibitions of innovative contemporary art throughout the year. Exhibitions and programming are organized with our students in mind in order to augment their academic experience by complementing the college’s curricula and broadening the understanding of contemporary art. We strive to foster critical thinking and to encourage innovation and investigation through contemporary art. The Museum advances the mission of Chaffey College by providing a dynamic, supportive, and engaging environment where our diverse students learn and benefit.

Considerations for Submissions

The Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art schedules its programming with a number of considerations in mind. Below is a list of some factors to consider regarding programming at the Museum.

Consideration is given to the relevance of the exhibition to the mission of the Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art.
Consideration is given to the relevance of the exhibition to the mission of Chaffey College.
Consideration is given to the relevance of the exhibition to various programs of study and curricular connections at Chaffey College.
Consideration is given to exhibitions that serve the faculty and instruction in a general or specific way.
Generally, priority is given to group exhibitions or thematic exhibitions rather than exhibitions featuring the work of a single artist.
Non-specific exhibitions, without an organizing theme, will most likely not fit our parameters.
Exhibitions may present topics and media outside the parameters more narrowly defined as visual arts.
Consideration is given to the diversity of artists represented, materials and techniques presented and diversity of ideas, concepts and theories explored.
Consideration is given to exhibitions that serve as vehicles for understanding diverse cultures, experiences and viewpoints.
Our audience includes the general population of students, faculty and staff at Chaffey College, the general public in our communities and the larger museum-going public of Southern California. Consideration is given to exhibitions that may include events or programming that will increase accessibility by non-specialists and students. Consideration is given to exhibitions that may include events or programming aimed at scholars and specialists. Our exhibitions feature contemporary art; the Wignall Museum of Contemporary art is not equipped to handle historic works of art and does not focus its programming on such works.
Our exhibitions feature objects and media on temporary loan from collectors, artists, and institutions. The Museum is a non-collecting institution.
Exhibition proposals will not be considered unless Museum submission guidelines are followed.
Exhibition proposals from faculty will be given the same consideration as all proposals presented (according to Museum submission guidelines and the considerations described above).
