The Journalism program prepares students for transfer to a degree program in journalism or mass communications and for a career in mass media, writing, photography, publishing, or public relations. The journalism department offers classes in basic newswriting, multimedia newswriting, and newspaper production (print and web based). These courses also introduce other forms of media writing and production, such as video presentations of news and feature stories, magazine writing, and broadcasting. The Breeze is the program's independent, student-edited newspaper, and the program is committed to the notion that democracy depends on a free and independent press.
