The nurse assistant is an important member of the health care team who provides direct care to patients in sub-acute, acute, and home health settings. All Certified Nurse Assistants function under the supervision of the Licensed Nurse. Programs are approved by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Upon completion of the nurse assistant course, the student is eligible to take the examination for Nurse Assistant Certification (CNA) offered by a state approved testing agency for a fee. The CNA may then complete courses for certification in Home Health Aide.

Entrance in the CNA program is subject to completion of the following requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age and attend the hours mandated to complete the program
  • Admissions to Chaffey College
  • Take the Reading/English assessment from Chaffey College Counseling Department, scoring at the 6th grade level or higher. We will not accept English classes or assessments from another training facility or college.
  • Submit completed first two pages of the program application form at the information meeting
  • Must have a Social Security number and card
  • Must have a current CPR card for the BLS Provider through the American Heart Association
  • Completed health form with lab results and immunization record by given date
  • Incomplete, mailed, or faxed applications will not be accepted
  • Flu shots are required by our clinical facilities

Open Enrollment Dates to submit CNA Applications:

  • SPRING Enrollment: September 1 – September 30
  • SUMMER Enrollment: February 1 – February 28
  • FALL Enrollment: May 1 – May 31
    1. Complete NA Application for Admission
    2. Copy of your CPR
    3. Submit application to the Health Sciences Chino Campus 2nd floor CHHC 212
