The Chaffey College Dental Assisting Program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. The program is designed to prepare students for the Dental Assisting National Board Examination for national certification as well as the Registered Dental Assistant Examination for state license. This one year program begins each fall semester. Students may enroll in the part-time program, which generally takes two years.

Program Highlights


	Upon completion of the Registered Dental Assisting Program students will acquire a Dental Assisting Certificate of Completion, the California Radiation Safety Certificate and the Coronal Polishing Certificate (must pass RDA Examination to activate).
	Students may earn the Ultrasonic Scaler Certificate for Orthodontic cement removal upon course completion and passing of the RDA Examination.
	Students are able to work with the latest dental techniques through supervised practice sessions at the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial V.A. Medical Center’s Dental Department and at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry. Students work with student dentists and experience using techniques and skills required to be a successful dental team member.
	Externships at local dental offices provide practical, hands-on experience.
	Community interaction such as delivering presentations to help educate school children in oral hygiene and nutrition and meeting with local dentists for career advisement.
	Students are eligible to join the American Dental Assistants Association, California Dental Assistant Association, and Pomona Valley Dental Assistant Society.
