COSTUME DESIGN Costume Design prepares the student to seek professional work as a costumer or assistant designer within the motion picture and television industries and live theatre, as well as freelance design and construction at the local level for community theatre and performing arts. Strongly recommended courses for degree and certificate: FASHD 42 and 72 CUSTOM DRESSMAKING The Custom Dressmaking certificate prepares the student for small business ownership in couture and custom work, as well as the highly demanded alterations field. Skills acquired also enable the student to apply for sample making in the apparel manufacturing field and costume construction in theatre and performing arts. INDUSTRIAL SEWING An Industrial Sewing Certificate prepares the student for apparel construction based on industry methods and the utilization of power sewing equipment. PATTERNMAKING FOR APPAREL The Patternmaking certificate prepares the student for employment in the apparel industry as a first patternmaker.
