Program Information

To become an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in the State of California, you will need to successfully complete an approved EMT training program.  The Chaffey College EMT training program is approved and meets the regulations established by the State of California Emergency Medical Services Administration (www.emsa.ca.gov), and by the Inland Counties Medical Association (ICEMA) (www.sbcounty.gov/icema/).

Becoming an EMT is an excellent choice to begin a career as an emergency medical provider.  The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Statistics states the health care industry and related fields will enjoy employment and job security through 2020. This includes all EMS personnel which are projected to grow at a rate of 33%.

Employment Opportunities

Career opportunities working as a Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) include, but are not limited to the following;

Working for an Am bulance Company:
  • Inner facility Transfers (IFT)
  • Doctors Office
  • Event EMT (Concerts, Sporting events etc.)

Working for Private Medical Providers:

  • Hospital Emergency Department
  • Doctors Office
  • Health Clinics

Working for Local Government:

  • Fire Department
  • Fire Department Ambulance Operator (AO)
  • Search and Rescue Teams
  • Fire Line EMT

Corporate EMS:

  • Provide Emergency Medical Services for construction worksite locations
