Chaffey College awards Associate in Arts and Associate in Science
degrees. Students must complete general education
requirements in addition to their major requirements. A minimum of
12 units must be earned at Chaffey College.
An Associate Degree from Chaffey College symbolizes the successful efforts of
the student to complete a series of learning experiences designed to enhance
insights, develop competencies, increase knowledge and encourage lifelong learning.
Although the degree requirements include a wide variety of choices for all students,
the framework of curricula has been established by the faculty in compliance
with state law to meet both student needs and community expectations.
Each Associate Degree is an expression of achievement designed to insure:
In addition to these accomplishments, the student shall possess sufficient depth
in a selected field of knowledge to contribute to lifetime interests.

An Associate Degree from Chaffey College is an award
certifying that its recipient has demonstrated competence in a wide variety
of disciplines, including a relatively intense exposure in a major field.
The requirements for the degree include the widest possible variety of
choice for the students within a framework established by the faculty of
the college in compliance with state law and the expectations of the community
served by the college. It is the intent of the college that each Associate
Degree be a unique expression of achievement. The minimum requirements
for graduation with the degree of Associate in Arts or Associate in Science
are specified by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges
and the Chaffey College Governing Board.
Unit and Subject Requirements ASSOCIATE DEGREE The Associate Degree will be granted upon the completion of 60
semester units of work and the fulfillment of the following specific requirements listed below.
I. General Education (minimum 18 units)
Complete the requirements stated under "General Education."
Note: Students
who are qualified to be certified for the CSU General Education pattern
of classes or the IGETC pattern of classes also fulfill the General Education requirements for an Associates Degree for Chaffey College.
Complete
an associate degree program as described under "Programs
of Study" in the Chaffey College catalog.
III. Electives (any additional units necessary to meet minimum degree unit requirement)
MINIMUM TOTAL UNITS REQUIRED FOR DEGREE --- 60 UNITS
Basic Skills Competency Requirements I. Writing
The student must pass with a minimum grade of C:
English 1A II. Reading
Reading proficient or placement into Reading 1 as determined by the Chaffey assessment proces, or successful completion of Reading 550 or a more advanced level reading course. III. Mathematics
Placement into Mathematics 25 or higher as determined by the Chaffey assessment process, or successful completion of one of the intermediate algebra or higher level math or statistics courses listed below:
Mathematics 425, 430, 4, 25 or higher
level
Social Science 10
Statistics 10
III.
Application for Graduation
Students must file a formal application
for graduation in the Counseling Department or print the application online for an associate degree or certificate.
Students may graduate at the end of any semester
or summer session. Refer to the college calendar for application deadlines.
IV.
Continuous Attendance
These graduation requirements apply
to students during the 2012-2013 school year.
Students who enroll prior to Fall 2012
and who have maintained continuous attendance
(attendance in at least one semester or
two quarters, excluding summer sessions,
each calendar year -- January 1 through
December 31 -- as indicated on a permanent
record) at any accredited college have
the option of meeting the current requirements
or those in effect at the time continuous
attendance began. In the event that required
courses have been discontinued, students
may petition for substitution/waiver by making
an appointment with a counselor in the
Counseling Department.
