Assessment Testing

WE DO NOT OFFER WALK-IN ASSESSMENTS

The Assessment Test is a free, computerized placement tool (called Accuplacer) used to determine each student's proficiency level in mathematics and English composition.

Chaffey College does not accept assessment scores from other colleges.

WHEN TO TAKE THE TEST

The Assessment Test is to be taken after the New Student Orientation is completed. If you have not completed the New Student Orientation please click here to make your appointment. Once you complete the New Student Orientation, you may make an appointment to complete your Assessment Test and then an Educational Planning appointment.

Community Education offers an Assessment Strategies Workshop that helps you learn the impact of the test and strategies for you to do your best . Click here for more information

REMINDER: YOU CAN STILL REGISTER FOR CLASSES WITHOUT TAKING THE ASSESSMENT TEST. HOWEVER, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER IN ANY CLASSES THAT HAVE ENGLISH OR MATH AS A PREREQUISITE.

TYPES OF ASSESSMENT TESTS

Tradtional
The traditional assessment test is a two-part test in math and English.
ESL (English as a Second Language
The ESL test is for students whose native language is not English and who plan to take ESL courses. All students who plan to take ESL courses must first complete the ESL assessment test.
ATB (Ability to Benefit)
The ATB test is for certain students who have applied for financial aid, but have been told that they must first complete the ATB assessment test. NOTE: Most financial aid recipients do not have to take this test.
