Sample Test Questions

Assessment, Orientation, and Counseling are services provided to students by the Counseling Department as part of a process called matriculation. This is a state-mandated partnership for student success between the college and its students. The college provides services to students to help them achieve their educational goals, while students do their part in striving to succeed.

Assessment consists of testing in reading, English, and math, or English as a Second Language, to help students determine the level of courses they should take.

Orientation provides information to students about enrollment procedures, programs of study, student services, and college resources and facilities.

English as a Second Language (ESL) testing is offered for students whose native language is not English and who plan to take ESL courses.

Students complete Assessment and Orientation online by computer at the Rancho Cucamonga campus or one of the off-campus centers. You may check with the Counseling Department at 909/652-6200 or the off-campus centers about the hours the centers are open.

Counseling helps students achieve their educational goals. Once testing is done, students develop their Student Educational Plan (SEP) with the help of a counselor, identifying courses they should take according to their goals, background, and assessment results. Students may complete their SEP in one of two ways:

1)	Register for the online course, Guidance 504, Educational Planning;
2)	Schedule an appointment with a counselor for an SEP.

Tips and Reminders

	Submit your Application for Admission and complete your Assessment and Orientation as soon as possible prior to your registration date. Procrastinating may result in you not being able to get the classes you want.

	You must schedule an appointment for testing at the Rancho Cucamonga campus. An appointment is also necessary at the other Chaffey campuses.
	A picture ID such as a driver's license is required for testing.
	Only students taking the test are allowed in the testing center. There is no waiting area for friends, family, or children while you are taking the test. They cannot wait in the testing room, nor can the college assume responsibility for unsupervised children.
	In the testing center, pagers and cell phones must be turned off. Food and drinks are not allowed. Use of calculators or dictionaries is not permitted.
	Allow ample time for parking. The campus may be very busy during peak times. At the Rancho Cucamonga campus, you may obtain a visitor parking permit from the switchboard operator in Campus Police.

	Days and times of the testing centers are subject to change. If you have any questions, call the center of your choice:
