Baseball Camp (hitting) The Chaffey Panther Hitting Camp is designed to help each participant improve individual skill, gain a better understanding of the game of baseball, and to reach their full potential as both a player and person. The camp includes fundamental training, game situations, and hitting lessons.
![]() Chris Walters Assistant Coach, Baseball Coach Chris Walters begins his first season with the Panthers Baseball coaching staff. Walters graduated from Notre Dame High School in Riverside and completed his B.S. (Business Administration) and M.S. (Kinesiology) from California Baptist University. He also played for CBU, where he continued as an assistant coach for the past two years. He and his wife, Jenny, live in Riverside.
Track & Field Camp July 11 or 12, 2008 9-13 year olds -- 7/11 14-18 year olds -- 7/12 9 am - 2 pm $50 per camper - discount for siblings register by July 1 Chaffey's Track & Field Clinic is designed to assist active youths develop athletically. The focus of the track camp is to help young athletes become better, faster, and smarter athletes. Campers leave clinic with both educational and inspirational experience. Overall each athlete will acquire and increased knowledge and renewed enthusiasm for the sport. Camp covers: Throws (discus and shot put), Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps (High, Long and triple) and event specific drills and techniques.
![]() Blackman Ihem Head Coach, Track & Field Coach Ihem has worked as volunteer coach to many Inland Empire youth track teams and has coached athletes from over nine different Olympic countries. He has served as head women and sprint coach at San Bernardino Valley College, where one of his athletes set the two junior college national records in the 200M/400M. Last year, Coach Ihem was named the 2007 Foothill Conference Coach of the Year.
Dance & Cheer Camps July 14-17, 2008 DANCE -- 8:30 am - 11 am CHEER -- 11:30 am - 2 pm $99 per camper per session - discount for multiple sessions register by June 23 The Chaffey College Dance Camp will focus on beginning to intermediate dance techinques for children aged 6-14 including, but not limited to turns, kicks and jumps and will develop performance techniques with emphasis on execution of choreographic elements. Students will have a dance showcase at the end of camp. The Chaffey College Cheer Camp will focus on beginning to intermediate cheer techniques for children aged 6-14 including, but not limited to motions and jumps and will develop performance techniques with emphasis on execution of choreographic elements. Students will have a cheer showcase at the end of camp.
![]() Edana Garrett Coach, Chaffey College Dance Team Edana Garrett is entering her second year as the Chaffey College Dance Team Coach. She is an nine-year member and Head Instructor for the United Spirit Association's Song leading Program, directs summer camps, as well as, directing and judging for spirit leading and dance competitions. She worked on choreography and charting for the 2005 NFL Pro Bowl with e2k Sports and also on the 2004-2007 United Way Thanksgiving Day Shows, with John Mellencamp, Mariah Carey, John Fogerty and the Goo Goo Dolls, respectively, in Detroit Michigan as Talent Coordinator and Production Assistant. She is a former LA Clipper Spirit 'BUMshakalaka' and cheered for the LA Rams their last season in Los Angeles. She also danced for many years at Disneyland in various shows and parades, but she is most proud of being the mother of her 6 year old son, Dorian Eli and 7 month old daughter Zhi Lenese.
Soccer Camp July 14-17, 2008 2 - 4:30 pm $99 per camper register by June 23 The Chaffey College Soccer Camp is for boys and girls ages 8-14 years old. The four day camp focuses on the basic technical skills of dribbling, passing, heading and shooting. Also, goalkeepers will have their own specialized training sessions. The campers will also learn individual/team tactics and fair play.
![]() Ben Cooper Head Coach, Men's Soccer Having just finished his second season as head coach of the Chaffey College Men’s Soccer Team, Ben Cooper looks to the 2007 season as a turning point for the Panthers’ soccer program. Through hard work and determination, Coach Cooper looks to make a difference with his student athletes and throughout the soccer community.
Grace Cutrona, entering her second season
as the Women’s Soccer coach, brings her
soccer experience and knowledge to Chaffey
College. Having achieved great success in
her playing days at Fullerton College, Coach
Cutrona now turns to coaching at the community
college level.
The Chaffey youth Volleyball Clinic focuses on teaching basic skills including passing, setting, serving, hitting, and team rotation. Designed to prepare players for High school entry development and focus on competitive play. The volleyball camp is divided into two age groups 8yrs through 15 years. This camp is designed to provide valuable playing techniques for all players.
Coach Larry Chowen is a former Division 1 college player at Cal State Long Beach, a NCAA Finalist, and a seven-year open division club player. He received a Masters of Arts degree in Physical Education and has been playing and coaching for over 35 years.
The Panther Basketball Camp for
boys and girls entering grades 2nd to
8th focuses on a daily fundamental
workout that includes shooting, dribbling,
ball handling, passing,
rebounding, and post moves.
Students also learn individual and
team defense as well as team concept
and attitude. Each day will include
full court competition.
Having just completed his third season as
Head Coach of the Chaffey College
Women’s Basketball Team, Gary Plunkett
has laid the foundation for a successful
program… one built on sound fundamentals,
determined effort, and commitment
to defense.
Plunkett has worked as either an Assistant Director,
Coach, or Counselor at basketball camps for the
past 18 summers. He brings extensive experience
from some of the best basketball camps in
Southern California. In addition to camps, Plunkett
has conducted clinics for the Carson YMCA & Long
Beach Boys & Girls Club.
