10/6/09
The women traveled to San Diego Mesa last weekend for tournament play, besting Citrus and Grossmont before falling to Cerritos for the second time this week. The women play Long Beach at home on Wednesday.

9/29/09
The women racked up another decisive South Coast Conference win yesterday at Rio Hondo, leaving the Roadrunners with a 21-5 loss. Scoring multiple goals for the Panthers were Caitlin Ellis 3, Erin Morten 2, Brittney Howell 2 and Lauren Gentry 2. A true team effort, 12 other players scored 1 goal each contributing to the Panthers 16 point win. Protecting the goal was Caitlin McCurley with 6 saves. The women are now 9-1 overall and 2-0 in conference. The team has a one week break before playing Cerritos at home on Wednesday.

The women hosted the 7th Annual Chaffey Tournament last weekend - adding four more wins to their 2009 record. Facing American River, Fresno, San Diego Mesa and Santa Rosa, the Panthers went undefeated in tournament play making their record so far 8-1. The women travel to Rio Hondo Wednesday for continued South Coast Conference play.

The women traveled to Saddleback last weekend finishing the tournament in 2nd place behind undefeated Fullerton. The women had a fine showing, defeating Saddleback, Southwestern and Palomar. The team plays at home tomorrow at 3 pm vs South Coast Conference LA Trade Tech in the conference opener. The women host the 7th Annual Chaffey Tournament this Friday and Saturday.

The men’s and women’s water polo teams are getting in shape for the 2009 season. Both teams have 2½ weeks before their first games.

12/9/08
Eleven Chaffey Water Polo players were named to post-season honor teams for the South Coast Conference. Melissa McKown was named to the All-American team, as well as, 1st team Southern California and All-South Coast Conference. Dianna Melancon was named to the 2nd team All-Southern California and the 1st team All-South Coast Conference. Malaysia Santin, Caitlin Ellis, Jamie Jackson and Lauren Gentry were named to the All-South Coast Conference team. Andrew Fischer and Chuck Camacho were named to the 1st team for the men. Gary Cheever, Nate Clawson and Kristopher Larson rounded out Chaffey’s honorees. Congratulations to these fine student-athletes.

The women's water polo team participated in the SouthCoast Conference Regional Playoffs yesterday, falling to GoldenWest 9-5. Melissa McKown had 4 goals in the game - 119 season goals, breaking the previous Chaffey record of 116 goals in a season held by Laura Uribe. Jamie Jackson had 1 goal and Caitlin McCurley had 7 saves. This completes the season for the Panthers, who finish with a 18-19 overall record.

The women's water polo team participated in the SouthCoast Conference Tournament this weekend beating Pasadena before falling to Cerritos and Mt. SAC (OT). Chaffey College led by All Americans Melissa Melancon, and Dianna Melancon have reached the Regional Playoffs for the 6th straight season. The Panthers have reached the playoffs in each of their first six seasons. This is the 18th straight junior college playoff appearance for Head Coach Jim Dopf. The Panthers are the #8 seed and will play Golden West the #9 seed. Game time is 3:45 pm at Golden West, the host of the 2008 regional playoffs.

The women's water polo team took on local SouthCoast Conference rival Mt. SAC at home Wednesday, losing 6-4. The women were led by Melissa McKown who scored 3 of the Panthers' 4 goals. Defending the box was Madison MacDonald with 6 saves. The women take a break this week before the SouthCoast Conference Tournament on November 7th. 10/30/08

The women's water polo tam participated in the Battle of the Beach last weekend, emerging 2-2 with losses to Santa Ana and Grossmont and wins against Southwestern and Cuesta. The team continues conference play Wednesday against Mt. SAC at home.

The women hosted Pasadena yesterday defeating the Lancers 9-7 in South Coast conference play. Leading the Panthers were Melissa McKown with 6 goals and Erin Morten, Caitlin Ellis and Brytannie Clark with 1 goal each. Defending the goal was Caitlin McCurley with 6 saves. The women travel to the coast this weekend for the 11th Annual TruWest Battle at the Beach. First match at Cypress Friday at 11:05 against Southwestern.

10/8/08
After traveling since mid-September, the women’s water polo team returns home next Wednesday to face Pasadena at 3 pm. The team has traveled all over California, participating in tournaments in Merced and San Diego as well as conference games at Long Beach and Cerritos. At 1-2 the team is ranked in 4th place behind Cerritos, Long Beach and Mt. SAC. Melissa McKown (freshman from Vista High School in LaVerne) is currently ranked #2 in the state for total goals at 66. She has also had 16 assists and 42 steals. Diana Melancon comes in at #15 with 37 goals, 26 assists and 62 steals. Madison McDonald leads the state goalkeepers with 235 saves.

The women traveled to San Diego Mesa last weekend, finishing the tournament 1-1. The team travels resumes conference play Wednesday at Long Beach.

The women dominated Rio Hondo last week at home in the conference opener for both teams, sending the Roadrunners home with a 20-5 loss. The women travel to Cerritos for a 4:15 match on Wednesday.

The women hosted Rio Hondo yesterday afternoon in the conference season opener for both teams, sending the Roadrunners home with a 20-5 loss. Scoring for the Panthers were Melissa McKowen (6), Dianna Melancon (3), Erin Morten (3), Caitlin Ellis (3), Caitlin McCurley (2), Jamie Jackson (1), Kaitlyn Smith (1) and Jaclyn Levesque (1). Madison McDonald had 6 saves. Bryttanie Clark had 2 saves. The team travels to Cerritos next Wednesday for a 4:15 game.

3/7/07
Water Polo and Swimmer Sarah Woods was named to the 2007 Pepsi Scholar Honor Roll for her excellence in Water Polo (All American), Swimming and in the classroom as well (3.93 GPA). Sarah follows in the footsteps of former aquatic alumni, Christine Sorensen 2005, (San Jose St.), and Nikki Ruesch 2006, (Pomona Pitzer). Sarah also plans to attend Pomona Pitzer in the fall where she’ll continue her Water Polo and academic career.

After placing 3rd at last weekend’s southern California finals, the women advance to the state finals in Fresno Saturday. They will face American River (#1 in northern California). Seven players were named to the All-American and/or All-Conference teams: Erin Lura and Tara Schwitzer (Honorable Mention); Georgina Diaz and Marilyn Doughty (2nd team); Sara Woods, Melissa McKown and Gabi Rivera (1st team All Conference AND All American).

The women, tied for first in the South Coast Conference with Long Beach and Cerritos, participate this weekend in the SCC Tournament being held at Mt SAC.

10/25/07
The Panthers continue to blaze through southern California, taking out Rio Hondo 18-3 yesterday. The team is ranked #10 in the state coaches’ poll, is tied for first in conference with Long Beach and Cerritos and is ranked #9 in the state. Marilyn Doughty is ranked #1 in state with 36 goals, 21 assists and 100 steals! Georgina Diaz is #2 in the state with 258 saves! The team takes a break before participating in the SCC Tournament next week at Mt SAC.

10/18/07
The women took the Citrus Tournament by storm last weekend, winning all matches including the final game against Fullerton. The team took on LA Trade Tech yesterday, winning 5-0. This weekend the Panthers travel to Long Beach for tournament play.

9/27/07
Women’s Water Polo held the #5 spot in the state for the 2nd week in a row despite an 11-3 loss to Long Beach last week. The Panthers came back this week with a decisive 13-1 win against El Camino. The team travels to San Diego this weekend to participate in the Mesa Tournament and then on to Pasadena on the 3rd.

Women’s Water Polo hosted the 5th annual Chaffey Tournament last weekend with 10 teams competing from all over California. The team played Long Beach yesterday (11-3 L) and is currently ranked 5th in the state.

Women’s Water Polo hosts the 5th annual Chaffey Tournament this weekend with 11 teams competing from all over California, including northern CA, American River and Santa Rosa. The Chaffey team has had an incredible pre-conference season, leading up to a 9-7 win against Cerritos in the conference opener yesterday. The team was recently ranked 3rd in the state!
