3/7/08
The women traveled to Cerritos Friday night to take on the Falcons in the first round of the 2008 playoffs. The Panthers were defeated 63-47 ending the 2007-08 season for basketball. The team finished the season a respectable 24-8 overall and 12-4 in conference.
Five basketball players have been named to the All-Foothill Conference Team for their achievement on the court this season. Women’s basketball players Christina Warren, Tamesha Jackson and Aundria Anderson represent Chaffey on the women’s team. Nick Turner and Winston Robinson were selected for the men. Congratulations on this accomplishment.
2/15/08
2/13 – The women traveled to Antelope Valley to take on the Marauders. Going into Wednesday’s game, both teams were tied for third place in the Foothill Conference behind Mt San Jacinto and San Bernardino. Tamesha Jackson led the Panthers with 17 points. Keisha Mackall had 13 points. The loss drops the Panthers into 4th place in the conference. The women will try again Saturday against Rio Hondo.
2/9 – The women hosted the College of the Desert Roadrunners Saturday afternoon -- beating them 85-40. Every Panthers took to the court and scored! Leading the charge were Zipporah Brown with 12 points, Aundria Anderson with 10 (2-3s) and Chameka Judd with 10 (all in the 2nd 1/2).

With only two conference losses this season, the women are showing the Foothill Conference that they are a team to be taken seriously. Despite a 3rd place standing, the team maintains the best overall record at 20-5 (80% wins). Leading the Panthers to their most recent victory against Barstow Wednesday were Tamesha Jackson, Christina Warren and Keisha Mackall, each scoring in double digits. The team has a weeklong break, playing at home on the 6th against San Bernardino.
1/24/08
It was a nail-biter Saturday as the winner of the Chaffey/Rio Hondo game came down to 2 free-throws with no time on the clock. The win went to the Panthers 81-80. Wednesday the team took on #3 Mt San Jacinto, losing 57-68. The Panthers return home the 6th at 5 pm after away games with Cerro Cosa and Barstow.

The women fell to #4 in the Foothill Conference after a loss at San Bernardino Valley Wednesday, 71-57. Tamesha Jackson, Keisha Mackall and Aundria Anderson lead the Panthers with double digit scoring. Despite the loss, the Lady Panthers maintain the best overall record in the conference at 14-4. The team takes on Desert (#7) Saturday at 1 pm and return home Wednesday to play #3 Antelope Valley at 5 pm.

With two wins (El Camino and Cuesta) and an overtime loss to Cerritos at the Coast Classic, the women are amassing an impressive record early in the season. The women took on the Fullerton Hornets last night and improved their record to 13-3 with a 66-59 win. The team resumes Foothill Conference play on the 29th against Victor Valley.

The women are dominating the courts up and down California with victories at both Cuesta and Irvine. The Panthers won 2 of 3 at Cuesta taking 2nd place and then went on to Irvine to win all 3 for the championship. With a 10-2 record, the team has taken an early lead in the Foothill Conference, ahead of Rio Hondo and Desert.

The women’s basketball team lead by Gary Plunkett opened their Foothill Conference season last week with a home game against Cerro Cosa. The women played hard taking the Lady Coyotes 73-51. Returning player, Christina Warren lead the Panthers with 26 points and 7 out of 8 free throws. The women travel to Cuesta Colllege this weekend for the Conoco Phillips Invitational.

The winter athletics season has officially begun with the men and women both participating in tournaments last weekend. The women took consolation champion at the Hilton Garden Inn Classic with wins against Taft and Southwestern. Keisha Mackall was named to the all-tournament team. Both teams open the home season this weekend – the men Saturday at 3 pm and the women Friday at 7 pm.
