The women welcomed Long Beach City College this week in the final pre-conference games of the season, losing 1-3. The team takes on cross-town rivals San Bernardino Valley College Wednesday at 5 pm at home.

The women traveled to Santa Ana last weekend for the Santa Ana Tournament - finishing 2-2 with a playoff loss to #1 seed Eastern Utah 17-25. The women lost their first series to Diablo Valley College but then came back to defeat Santa Monica and Santa Ana for an Upper Division Playoff spot. The team has a one week hiatus traveling to San Diego City this weekend for continued tournament play.

The women traveled to Cuyamaca last week for the college’s annual tournament leaving with a disappointing 1-3 finish. Complete scores are below. The women are on the road until the 30th, taking on Southwestern Wednesday at 5 pm.

The women traveled to Riverside Friday for the RCC Quad Tournament - falling in two matches. First the team took on Mt SAC (15-25, 9-25 and 19-25) and then faced RCC (14-25, 20-25 and 21-25). The team plays at home tomorrow vs East LA College at 5 pm.

Volleyball hosted their first scrimmage of the season Saturday and will begin play on September 2nd, hosting Grossmont College.

VOLLEYBALL ADVANCES TO FIRST ROUND PLAYOFFS v PIERCE – 6 PLAYERS MAKE ALL CONFERENCE LIST
The team travelled to LA Pierce last week to compete in the first round of payoffs. The women lost to Pierce in 3 (13-25, 19-25 and 10-25). Foothill Conference Champions, the Panthers finished the regular season 11-1 in conference. Six players were named to the All Foothill Conference team for 2008. Tara Sawyer lead the Panthers throughout the season and was named League MVP as well as being placed on the 1st team. Joining Sawyer on the 1st team was fellow sophomores Colleen Chauncey and Lauren Hall. Serena Diaz and Christine Luna were named to the conference 2nd team and Breeana Mayes Volleyball received Honorable Mention. Congratulations to Coach Larry Chowen and his 2008 team!

2008 FOOTHILL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!
The Panthers took on San Bernardino Friday, beating the Wolverines in 4 games to clinch the 2008 Foothill Conference Championship title. The women play their final game of the season this evening at home against Antelope Valley.

The Panthers hosted the College of the Desert Roadrunners yesterday, sending them home with a 3-0 defeat. The women host Rio Hondo today at 5 pm.

The Panthers continued their winning streak Friday, defeating Victor Valley 3-0 at home. Friday's win, takes the women to 7-0 in conference with a decisive lead on first place. Next up for the team is a away match with 4th place Mt. San Jacinto Wednesday before returning home Friday against 5th place College of the Desert.

The Panthers traveled to Antelope Valley Friday to take on the undefeated Marauders on their home court. The women battled through 5 matches to take AVC 3-2. The women remain undefeated in the Foothill Conference putting them undisputedly in 1st place! The team had a bye Wednesday and resumes conference play tomorrow against Victor Valley at home.

The Panthers remain undefeated in the Foothill Conference with a 3-0 win against Rio Hondo Friday night. The women beat the Roadrunners 25-21, 25-19 and 25-15. The team hosts San Bernardino Valley Wednesday.

Three matches into the Foothill Conference season, the women’s volleyball team remains undefeated with a record of 3-0. Yesterday, the team took on College of the Desert, winning 3-1. Friday, the women travel to Rio Hondo to take on the Roadrunners who have yet to score a win this season.

Volleyball traveled to Victor Valley yesterday for the first match of the 08 Foothill Conference season, winning 3-2. The women are home tomorrow against Mt. San Jacinto at 5 pm.

The volleyball team traveled to San Diego last weekend for tournament play. For the second tournament in a row, the Panthers made it to the Final Gold Pool. Leading up to gold, the team took down San Diego City (2-0), Skyline (2-1) and LA Trade Tech (2-0) before losing to Taft 0-1. The team plays again tonight at home against Cuyamaca in a makeup game.

At last Saturday’s Santa Ana Tournament, our volleyball team had the opportunity to share the Chaffey Spirit with others. Presented with the opportunity to help the grandson of Santa Ana’s team, the women donated $120 – three times the amount Coach Chowen originally expected to collect. Troy Abbey’s (Santa Ana coach) 6-year old son is battling cancer and the Chaffey team donated a portion of their meal money to the coach. Several parents also donated to the fund. Their story was #1 in Michelle Gardner’s Campus Life column today.

Volleyball took on Long Beach City College last night and were defeated 3-2. The women lost the first match 15-25 but battled back winning 2 & 3 of the best of 5 series (25-17 and 25-19. In the 4th, LBCC defeated the Panthers by 2 (23-25) forcing a 5th which they also won 10-15. The women take on Santa Monica, Friday at home.

Volleyball played their final game of the season yesterday against San Bernardino Valley – losing 3-2. The team completes the season in 5th place.

After Victor Valley’s match-up was cancelled last week due to the fires, the women got a break and a win against Rio Hondo 3-0. The team has a bye this week – and resumes play Wednesday the 7th at Mt San Jacinto.

The team traveled to Antelope Valley College yesterday and was defeated by the Marauders 3-0 in three very close games (29-31, 22-30, 28-30). The women travel to Victor Valley tomorrow to take on the Rams at 5 pm and then return home next week to play Rio Hondo in a Halloween night match.
Tara Sawyer is #2 in the Foothill Conference with a hitting percentage of 3.39. Colleen Chauncey and Tara Sawyer hold the #2 and 3 positions for blocks in Foothill with 1.36 and 1.06 respectively. Colleen is also #10 in the state.

Things may be turning around for the Chaffey volleyball team with recent wins against Mt San Jacinto, Rio Hondo and Victor Valley, leaving the team battling for 2nd place with San Jacinto. Yesterday, the Panthers played College of the Desert (away) and lost 3-0. The team plays at home Friday against San Bernardino Valley.

The women’s volleyball team just wasn’t able to establish a winning rhythm in pre-conference play, losing to Pasadena 0-3 yesterday. The team begins conference play Friday against Antelope Valley at home.

It was a hard weekend for Panther volleyball as the team fell 3-0 Friday to Palomar and then was defeated Saturday at the Santa Ana Tournament and then again 3-0 against Long Beach yesterday. Only 2 match-ups remain until the conference season begins on September 28th against Antelope Valley.

After a 3-0 win against Grossmont on Friday evening, the volleyball team took the championship in the consolation category last weekend at the Cuyamaca Tournament after beating host Cuyamaca and Tima (AZ). The team plays at home Friday against Palomar and then will compete in the Santa Ana Tournament on Saturday.

The volleyball team traveled to Cuyamaca yesterday and won all 3 games (30-21, 30-17 and 30-25). The Panthers take on Grossmont at home tomorrow at 5 pm.

The volleyball team hosted in a 5-team scrimmage Saturday. The team plays again at Mt SAC on Friday the 31st and then at Grossmont on the 1st.
