5/17/10
Congratulations to the men's and women's track & field teams for several Top 15 finishes at last weekend's Southern California Championships:

  • Stephanie Scott - 9th place high jump, 3rd place long jump, 9th place triple jump
  • Mareka Clark - 3rd place triple jump
  • Avery Terry - 3rd place 400 meter hurdles
  • Andrew Weakley - 6th place 400 meter hurdles
  • Rico Hendrix - 12th place high jump
  • Michael Curry - 11th place long jump
  • 4x100 meter relay team (Lewis & Minley) 7th place
  • 4x400 meter relay team (Curry, Terry, Minley & Nnoruka) 3rd place
The women finished 18th overall and the men finished 12th. Congratulations to both teams and Head Coach Blackman Ihem.

The track and field team is on the road Saturday at Saddleback for the Southern California Prelims. Finals will be held at Saddleback on the 15th.


4/20/09
The Chaffey Panthers traveled to Mt San Antonio College for the 51st Annual MT SAC Relays, a highly competitive multi-day event that brings together community college athletes from all over the state. Several Chaffey athletes placed in the top eight:

Men:

  • Jamere Franklin - 3rd 100 m dash
  • Michael Curry - 1st (3 way tie) high jump with a height of 6'8"
  • Anthony Soares - 4th (7 way tie) high jump

Women:

  • Jessica Rosa - 5th high jump

The team also participated in the Foothill Conference Preliminaries at Cuyamaca College last weekend in preparation for this weekend's Finals at San Bernardino Valley College. The men finished in 3rd place and the women 7th overall.

Men:

  • Jamere Franklin - 1st 100 meter dash (10.76 seconds), 3rd 200 meter dash
  • Mikio Bryan - 6th 100 meter dash
  • Michael Curry - 7th 200 meter dash, 2nd long jump
  • Ifeanyi Nnoruka - 5th 400 meter dash
  • Roger Mance - 3rd long jump
  • Durell Givens - 6th long jump
  • Marcus Pillares - 3rd discus throw
  • Kelechi Azubuike - 1st discus throw (146' 1")
  • Joshua Allen - 8th discus throw

Women:

  • Diane Warren - 7th 400 meter dash
  • Lashandra Jenkins - 4th discus throw
  • Tanisha Oates - 6th 100 meter hurdles

3/3/09
The Track and Field team traveled to Cuyamaca for the Foothill Hep/Dec Relays last weekend placing in the top 10 in 16 events. Ifeanyi Nnoruka came in first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 51.19 seconds. Michael Curry (6’8”) and Jessica Rosa (5’0”) both placed first in the high jump. Joshua Allen placed first in the shot put with a distance of 43’2”. The team travels to CSU Fullerton this weekend for the Ben Brown Invitational.

The Track and Field team traveled to Cerritos last weekend to participate in the Cerritos Invitational and placed in the top 10 in the following events: 200 meter dash (Jamaal Williams), high jump (Michael Curry and Jessica Rosa), shot put (Joshua Allen and Tanisha Oates). The team travels to Cuyamaca for the Foothill Hep/Dec Relays this weekend.

2/17/09
The Track and Field team hosted Antelope Valley and Victor Valley colleges last week for a Foothill Conference Meet. Numerous Panthers placed in the top 5 of their events including first place finishes for Tariq Devore (200 m dash), Montrail Brooks (400 m dash), Mark Malone (400 m hurdles), the men’s 4x400 relay team, Aaron Mays (long jump and triple jump), Julian Muse (shot put), Sonia Torres (800 m run), the women’s 4 x 100 m relay team and Dalia Ruiz (javelin).

2/10/09
The Chaffey Panthers opened the Foothill Conference season Saturday at San Bernardino with a Quad meet against Rio Hondo, Antelope Valley and host SBVC. Both the men's and women's high jump were dominated by the Panthers with Jessica Rosa jumping 4' 10.25" and Jerry Summerville jumping an impressive 6' 0". Also dominating field events were Joshua Allen with a 1st place 42' 3.5" shot put throw and Lashandra Jenkins who placed 2nd in discus with a 77' 7.25" throw. In track events the men's 4x100 meter relay team took the even with a 57.71 second finish. The men's 4x400 meter relay team placed 4th. Chaffey took 3rd, 4th, 7th and 8th in the 100 meter dash and 2nd, 4th and 6th in the 400 meter dash as well as 5th in the 800 meter run. The team hosts the Chaffey Quad meet Thursday beginning at 1 pm.

SEVEN TRACK TEAM MEMBERS MOVE ON TO STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS
Competing in the Southern California Track & Field Finals last weekend in Bakersfield, the Panther men finished 11th and the women 21st in the region. Although two women (Sonia Torres: 800 m run and Jasmine Baysinger: 100 m hurdles) finished in the top 10 for their event, neither qualified for next weekend's championships. Mark Malone also finished 6th in the men's 400 m hurdles but failed to qualify for state. Moving on to next weekend's state championships at Cerritos College are:

  • Montrail Brooks - 800 m run, 4x400 relay team
  • Jamal Devore - 4x400 m relay team
  • Tariq Devore - 400 m dash, 4x100 m relay team, 4x400 m relay team
  • Jamere Franklin - 4x100 m relay team
  • Onye Iwuorie - 4x100 m relay team
  • Marcus Minley - 4x400 m relay team
  • Eugene Williams - 4x100 m relay team

Panther Track and Field opens will host another All Comers meet beginning at 10 am Saturday, February 2nd.

Panther Track and Field opens the season Saturday with a home All Comers meet beginning at 10 am. Chaffey will host another All Comers meet next Saturday, February 2nd at 10 am.
