11/15/07
The Panthers finished the season in 4th place with a .500 season (5-5-0). Six players were named to the All Foothill Conference Team: Stevon Thomas, Justin Veazie, Jahmel Rover, Bryan Copping, Alex Thompson and Dennis Gilleylan. Congratulations to these outstanding players!
11/1/07
The Panthers played hard last Saturday and were rewarded with a decisive 49-24 victory over the visiting Wolverines of San Bernardino Valley College. SBVC came on strong scoring first but the Panthers fought back, with the leader bouncing back and forth throughout the first & second quarters. In the second half, it was all Panther Power – with Chaffey leading until the end. Complete play-by-play is available on the Chaffey Football website. This win, coupled with Grossmont’s loss over the weekend bump the Panthers into 3rd place in the conference and 16th in southern California.
The Panthers travel to Antelope Valley Saturday for their final game of the 2007 regular season. The Marauders are undefeated this season and are ranked first in conference and 10th in the state with an 8-0 record.

The Panthers traveled to Mt San Jacinto last weekend and took the Eagles 28-10. That win moves Chaffey into the #4 spot in the Foothill Conference behind College of the Desert, Antelope Valley and San Bernardino. Desert and AVC remain undefeated.
Jahmel Rover #26 has a firm hold on the top rushing spot in the conference (and #6 in the state) averaging well over 100 yards per game despite sitting out a game for health reasons.
The Panthers return home this weekend for their final game of the season at Grigsby Field. Come cheer the team on as they take on #3 San Bernardino Valley at 1 pm Saturday.

The Panthers fell 50-17 last week against undefeated College of the Desert. Roadrunner defense kept Jahmel Rover (2nd in state for rushing) to 50 yards for the entire game.
The Panthers go into this weekend’s game against Mt San Jacinto in 5th place (2-3 in conference). The Eagles are 1-3 in conference with their sole win against San Diego Mesa last weekend.
Only 3 games remain for the Panthers this season, including games against #2 Antelope Valley and #3 San Bernardino Valley. The Panthers return home Saturday, October 27th for a 1 pm game against the San Bernardino Valley Wolverines. This will be the Panthers final game at home for the 07 season.

Last week at Southwestern, the Panthers played like a team that wanted to win and were rewarded for their efforts with a decisive 42-34 win against the Jaguars. Highlighting the game were 3 touchdowns by #80 Alex Thompson including a 75 yard punt return in the 4th quarter. Powerhouse, Jahmel Rover (#26) rushed for 224 yards including 3 touchdowns.
The Panthers go into this weekend’s game 1-1 in conference play, as does Grossmont who lost to San Bernardino Valley (27-25) last weekend. That loss was the Griffins first conference loss in 5 years!

The Panthers opened the conference season Saturday at home against Victor Valley. The Panthers dominated the field early on, taking the score to 26-9 at the end of the first half. But the Rams gained momentum after the break and tied the game at 26-26 with 3 minutes remaining. The momentum continued into overtime with VVC scoring the game winning touchdown. Final score 33-26. The Panthers will travel to Southwestern Saturday in an attempt to even out their conference record.

Despite a disappointing 27-6 loss to Riverside last Saturday, the Panthers are optimistic for Saturday’s conference opener against Victor Valley (0-2). “Like Victor Valley, we’re a very young team but we’re improving every day.” – Carl Beach, head coach Panther football

The Panthers played their first game of the 2007 season last Saturday against Glendale College. According to Jim Bryant, this was the first time in 77 years that the teams have faced off,
Despite record temperatures, the Panthers played a strong game taking the Vaqueros 31-10. The team plays Sat. at RCC at 5 pm.

The team traveled to Escondido Saturday to face Palomar College in a preseason scrimmage. The first game of the season will be this Saturday at home against Glendale College at 5 pm.
