welcome

Welcome Veterans!

Chaffey College is grateful for the contributions made by members of the United States armed services, both at home and abroad. We are honored to offer a student-centered community college education to our veterans and their families. Whether you are upgrading work skills, seeking to transfer to a college or university or plan to earn an associate degree or occupational certificate, you will find caring and highly qualified faculty and staff to assist you.

What service does the VRC offer?

  • If you are a veteran, currently serving in the military, or are a dependent/spouse receiving benefits and you'd like to meet other veteran students, then you have come to the right place. At the Veterans Resource Center (VRC), we seek to provide a sense of community among those who have served in any branch of the United States military

  • Because we recognize that veterans are in a unique situation on a college campus, we want to help make the transition from the military to college as easy as possible. We have information on programs and services such as Veteran's Education Benefits, the local VA office, degree and certificate requirements, transfer options and more

  • Open to veterans, current active military, dependants and spouses (who receive benefits)

  • Available computers, quiet study space and comfortable lounge area

  • Vet-Friendly "Safe Zones"

  2. Apply for your VA educational benefits. You can go to the GI Bill website to determine which GI Bill is best for you to use. The website is www.gibill.va.gov or call the VA at 888-442-4551. Complete your application online on VONAPP at http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp. New veteran students use VA Form 22-1990 and transferring veterans use VA Form 22-1995. New dependent students use VA Form 22-5490 and transferring dependents use VA Form 22-5495.

  3. Schedule your Assessment Test once you are emailed with your Chaffey Student I.D. number, it is required of all new college students or transfer students who have never taken English, Math, or Reading at a previous college. Contact the Counseling Department at (909)652-6200 to schedule.

  4. Request Official Transcripts from any other colleges you have attended, no matter if you only took one class there, all Official Transcripts are needed. Transcripts must remain sealed to be considered Official Transcripts. Transcripts can be mailed to Chaffey or can be walked in to Admissions and Records. Next, request a Unit Evaluation in the Admissions Office, please mark the box Veteran Educational Benefits pending before submitting the Unit Evaluation Request Form.

The Vets Center

If you’ve served in the military, are currently serving in the military, are a dependant or spouse receiving benefits, and you’d like to meet other veteran students, then you have come to the right place. At the Vets Center, we seek to provide a sense of community amongst those who have served in any branch of the United States military. We are located in AD-125. Our number is 909/652-6235.

Because we recognize that veterans are in a unique situation on a college campus we want to help make the transition from the military to college as easy as possible for you. We have information on programs and services like Veteran’s Education Benefits, the local VA office, degree and certificate requirements, transfer options and more. Feel free to stop by in regards to the above, with any other questions you may have, or to meet other veteran students.

Veteran Services

Veteran Services serves as a liaison between veteran students and the Department of Veteran Affairs. The office is equipped to inform veteran students of the appropriate forms required for VA educational benefits and answer questions concerning veteran educational benefits and/or educational experiences at Chaffey College. http://www.chaffey.edu/admissions/veterans.shtml

Student Veterans are defined as: Former military veterans (all branches – regardless of combat or field deployment time, National Guard members, Reserve component members, dependants and spouses who receive benefits).

Veterans Welcome Areas

Veterans Welcome areas is a program that Chaffey College has developed with the goal to simply improve the campus climate for student veterans by exhibiting outward support, respect and honor for these students. A Veterans Welcome Area will be identified by a poster, and the poster will indicate a location where veterans on campus can go to feel safe and supported.

Veterans Welcome areas identify faculty and staff who will provide a safe, confidential, and supportive environment for all veterans. Students will know who they can go to for help by the "Veterans Welcome" area poster located in the individual's office door/workspace. Veteran students can go to someone in confidence that will be supportive and accepting, to get help, advice, to talk or just to have a quite place to just be.
