Hello and welcome to the Faculty Advising! My name is Candice Tinsley, and I am so excited to help advise you in the area of Nutrition and Foods.  This is a field I have been passionate about for over 20 years, and I look forward to sharing this passion with you.

I started my educational career at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) as a Physical Therapy major, but after taking an Intro to Nutrition class as a GE requirement, I fell in love with the subject and changed my major to Dietetics and Foodservice Administration.  After receiving my B.S. degree, I continued at CSULB for my dietetic internship and also earned my M.A. degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Communication.  After my internship experience, I knew I ultimately wanted to teach, but I wanted to work in the field as a Registered Dietitian and practice my skills first, so that's what I did.

I worked as a Clinical Dietitian at St. Joseph Hospital in Orange, specializing in Oncology Nutrition, for about 5 years. I then started teaching Nutrition and Foodservice Administration courses part-time at Saddleback College, CSULB, and Mt. San Antonio College.  At the same time, I was also working as a Foodservice Retrieval Specialist for EcoSure, collecting food samples and performing food safety audits for fast food chains.  I also worked as a Consulting Dietitian for a small gym providing personal nutrition programs for clients. In addition, I taught in the Montebello Unified School District under a California grant, a series of nutrition lessons to 3rd graders. Then, in 2006, I started teaching full-time for Chaffey College in the Nutrition and Foods department and have enjoyed every moment in the classroom and interacting with students.

As a self-proclaimed "foodie," I enjoy cooking and baking for my friends and families, going to my favorite restaurants and also finding new restaurants to enjoy, reading, and being a dance mom and soccer mom to my kids.

I look forward to helping you reach your educational and career goals in this dynamic field of Nutrition!
