How Senate Fulfills the Mission and Purpose
Classified Senate endeavors to fulfill our mission and purpose by selecting
over 171 classified staff to serve on standing and ad—hoc committees campus
wide which promotes shared governance. Senate also partners with other
campus groups to support student success by donating toward the student
scholarship program, book grants, and the Foundation’s Fund a Dream
program. Senate is involved in community outreach by supporting the Chaffey
Food Pantry, Salvation Army and Teddy Bears for Hugs at Loma Linda
University Hospital. In addition, Senate has also helped develop individual
leadership skills by sending 35 staff members to the Classified Leadership
Institute Conference over the past 5 years as well as finding innovative ways
to develop and host fundraising activities that support workshops and
conferences for classified professionals.
