SIX PANTHERS COMPETE AT STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS (4/29/13) Congratulations to the Six Panther Swim/Dive athletes that represented the college last weekend at the 2013 CCCAA state championships.
LADY PANTHERS SCC CHAMPS (4/22/13) The Lady Panthers led by Coach Dopf captured their third straight conference championship (six of the last nine). Divers Amy Adams and Danielle Tomes were named Divers of the Year. Coach Dickson was named Diving Coach of the Year. Six athletes will represent Chaffey at the state championships next weekend at ELAC.
ECC/RIO HONDO DUAL MEET RESULTS (4/1/13)
Women The Chaffey College Women's Swim Team (7-1) finished their dual meet season with wins over El Camino 155-115 and Rio Hondo 222-12. Panthers were led by
Karla Fuertes with wins in the 100 Freestyle 56.41 and the 200 Freestyle 2:02.47. Other winner were Lexi Hansen 100 Backstroke 1:07.10, Jordan Carmody 100 Individual Medley 1:10.42,
Jess McCorkle 100 Butterfly 1:08.21, Kaitlyn Tanner 500 Freestyle 544.33, and Diver Danielle Tomes 188 pts. Chaffey swims next at the Pasadena Invitational next Friday at 1:00 pm.
LONG BEACH RESULTS (3/15/13)
Men The Chaffey College men's swimming and diving team went up against Long Beach City College today at Chaffey. Long Beach and Chaffey tied last year at the conference championships but Chaffey came out on top today by a score of 173 to 102. Leading the Panthers was Kyle McCurley, a returning All-American from last years championship team. Kyle took first in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:18.2); 50 freestyle (22.32); 500 freestyle (4:59.02) and was on the winning 400 freestyle relay (3:26.83). Joining him on the victory stand was Mackie Davisson, 100 & 200 breaststroke; Thomas Harper, 200 butterfly and 200 individual medley; Chris Olsen, (diving); Dennis Mispireta, (100 butterfly); Blake Tanner, (400 free relay), Doug Race, (400 free relay) and Mikey Jacques, (400 free relay). This brings Chaffey's dual meet record to 3 - 1. The Panthers will compete against Cerritos College and East Los Angeles College next week.
CHAFFEY INVITATIONAL RESULTS (3/11/13)
Men The Chaffey College men's swimming and diving team finished their two day invitational in fourth place with 533 points. Leading the Panthers was freshman Thomas Harper from Alta Loma who took the bronze in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:27.0 and a silver in the 200 butterfly in 2:00.4. Thomas was also a top 8 finalist in the 100 butterfly and 200 breaststroke.
Joining him as finalists were Mackie Davisson, 100 breaststroke; Mikey Jacques, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly; Dennis Mispireta, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly; David Dominguez, 200 butterfly; Doug Race, 1650 freestyle.
Chaffey will next host Long Beach City College and Los Angeles Trade Tech in a double dual meet on Friday, March 15.
MT SAC/PASADENA RESULTS (3/4/13)
Men The Chaffey College Men's Swimming & Diving Team took on the Pasadena City College Lancers today at the Pasadena College aquatic center. Chaffey won with a score of 180 - 87. The following is a list of 1st place finishers for the Panthers:

This brings the conference record for the Panthers to 1-1. Their next competition will be the Chaffey College & Riverside City College Invitational to be held at Riverside City College on March 8th & 9th.
Women
Chaffey lost their first dual meet in over two year to Mt. Sac. 143-136. The meet came down to the last relay which Mt. Sac won with a 1:53.2 to Chaffey 1:53.7. Chaffey did beat Pasadena 150-101. First Place finishes went to Karla Fuertez 1000 Free 11:13.02, 500 Free 5:26.39 and the 100 Free 57.30, Lexi Hansen won the 50 Free 26.74, and the 50 Backstroke 30.67. Kaitlyn Tanner won the 50 Butterfly 30.85. Danielle Tomes won the Diving with 190pts. Chaffey 1-1 swim next Friday in the Chaffey Invitational at Riverside City College.
MT SAC INVITATIONAL RESULTS (2/25/13)
Men
Chaffey College's men's swimmers and divers recently competed in the Mt San Antonio College Swimming & Diving Invitational. This invitational is one of the two largest invitational held in the state.
With over 20 community colleges competing and almost 600 total athletes, the Chaffey Panthers came away with a 6th place finish with 226 points. Winning this years competition was Orange Coast College with 462 points.
Leading this years team in individual scoring was freshman Thomas Harper from Alta Loma High School. Thomas scored in all 5 of his individual events with his highest place of 2nd in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.35. He also took a 3rd in the 500 freestyle; 5th in the 400 IM; 7th in the 1650 freestyle; and 12th in the 200 individual medley.
Also placing in the top 8 places were David Dominguez, a freshman from Los Osos HS. David placed 7th in the 200 butterfly. Kyle McCurley, a sophomore from Granite Hills HS placed 6th in the 500 freestyle. Dennis Mispireta, a sophomore from Etiwanda HS placed 3rd in the 200 butterfly. Chris Olsen, a sophomore from Alta Loma HS placed 7th in the diving competition.
Relays were also a factor in the team scoring as the men placed 5 relays in the top 16. The only team scoring in the top eight was the 400 freestyle relay which took 7th place with a time of 3:27.96. Swimmers were Thomas Harper, Kyle McCurley; Aaron Moore, a freshman out of Upland HS and Mikey Jacques, a sophomore from Chino HS.
Head Coach Mike Dickson, who is starting his 35th season as the coach for the Panther men was very pleased with the teams finish. "Invitationals are an opportunity to swim in a lot of events and gives you a chance to see how our swimmers match up with swimmers from our own South Coast Conference. Based on the overall results, our conference this year is one of the strongest conferences in the state in the men's division."
Next competition for the Panthers is a double dual meet against Mt San Antonio and Pasadena City on Friday, February 29th. Meet will begin at 12:30 at the Pasadena City College Aquatic Center.

WATERMAN RESULTS (2/12/13) Men On a rain free day at Palomar College, the Chaffey College men's swimming team used its depth to come out on top with a score of 680 points over Cerritos College, 643 points and host Palomar College with 476 points. Chaffey's only 1st place in an individual event came in the 100 butterfly by Dennis Mispereta, a sophomore from Los Osos High School in a time of 56.6. Their only relay 1st place was in the final event of the day, the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:30.8. Swimmers were Aaron Moore, freshman from Upland; Chris Vacarri, a freshman from Granite Hills; Thomas Harper, a freshman from Alta Loma and Kyle McCurley, a sophomore from Granite Hills. Next competition for the Panthers will be February 15th at East Los Angeles College in the South Coast Conference Pentathlon.
Women
The Chaffey Women's Swim (729) team took 1st place at the Waterman Invitational by almost 200pts to runner-up San Diego Mesa's (543). Chaffey had five first places on the day. Karla Fuertez 200 I.M. (2:19.3), Lexi Hansen 50 Free (25.6) won indivdual events. Fuertez, Hansen, and Kaitlyn Tanner won the 350 free relay (3:30.49), Fuertez, Hansen, Tanner, and Kelly Cooper won the 400 Free Relay (4:00.2), and Tanner, Sam Martinez, and Desiree Reeder helped win the Co-ed relay (2:43.1) On Friday Karla Fuertez took 5th and Lexi Hansen 7th out of 80 swimmers in the Palomar Pentathlon.
