2013 Men's Water Polo team
Seven Men's Water Polo players have been named to the All-South Coast Conference team including 1st team selections; Kevin Chapman and Matt Wong. [Complete list]
The Panthers completed their best season in 3 years with a 4th place finish at the South Coast Conference championships last weekend after falling to Mt SAC in the final round 15-5.
The Panthers entered the SCC Championships in 4th place yesterday taking out #5 El Camino 6-5 in game 1. Later, the men fell to #1 Long Beach 20-7. The team continues the championship series tomorrow with a scheduled game against Mt SAC at 11 am to determine which team will finish the season in 3rd place.
Travis Sapp MEN FALL TO LA VERNE AND CAL TECH (10/28/13)
The men took on University of La Verne and Cal Tech (both NCAA Division III schools) falling 14-4 and 12-7. Travis Sapp led the way with 3 goals and 1 assist. Blake Schwartz, Jacob Oller, Spencer Swezey added 2 goals each. Brandon Howell and Joe Jaime each had one goal as well. Kevin Chapman had 24 blocks in the two games.  Casey Lippiatt had 2. The men play their final home game this Wednesday against Cerritos.
MEN GO 1-3 AT CUESTA (10/21/13)
The Panthers traveled to Cuesta last weekend, defeating De Anza and falling to Sierra, Ohlone and Cabrillo. With a conference bye this week, the men resume play Saturday, taking on University of La Verne and CalTech.

The men easily defeated LA Trade Tech yesterday afternoon 19-1 in continued South Coast Conference play. Dominic Kirby led all scorers with 3 goals; Cameron Almeida, Ryan Soarez, Jacob Oller, Brandon Howell each had 2 goals. Casey Lippiatt made 6 blocks while only allowing 1 goal against. Against Pomona Pitzer, the Panthers struggled, falling 20-5. Matt Wong led the way with 2 goals, 1 assist, 4 exclusions drawn, and 1 steal. Travis Sapp, Brandon Howell, and Spencer Swezey added 1 goal to the cause. Kevin Chapman had a strong game in the cage blocking 13 Pomona shots on cage. The men play this weekend at the Cuesta Tournament in San Luis Obispo against Ohlone, Cabrillo, Sierra, and De Anza College.
Freshman driver, Matt Wong added 5 goals and 1 steal to his growing season record yesterday against Mt SAC but it wasn't enough to push the Panthers past the Mounties. Brandon Howell scored 2 and Ryan Soarez added the final goal for the team. Kevin Chapman had 9 blocks. The men host LA Trade Tech next Wednesday.
The Panthers headed south last weekend, taking on Citrus, San Diego Mesa, Fullerton and Miramar. It was a rough start with the men dropping 2 close games Friday. Saturday, the men faced off again against Fullerton with the same outcome as the previous Wednesday but pulled it all together at the end to defeat Miramar 15-9. Matt Wong again led the way with 12 goals and 16 steals. Kevin Chapman had 33 saves for the weekend. The men take a week off, playing at Mt SAC on the 9th.
Matt Wong PANTHERS 1-1 ON THE DAY (9/25/13)
The men hosted El Camino yesterday in South Coast Conference play - defeating the Warriors 9-7. Matt Wong led the way with 7 of the 9 goals.  Spencer Swezey and Blake Schwartz added 1 goal each. Kevin Chapman made 11 saves in the win. The team did not fair as well against Fullerton last night, falling 11-3. Matt Wong again shined with 2 goals and Ryan Soarez added the other. Kevin Chapman made 6 saves in the loss and Travis Sapp had one. The guys head to San Diego this weekend for the South of the Border Tournament at Mesa where they will take on Citrus, Miramar, Mesa and rematch with Fullerton.
Matt Wong MEN WORK HARD AT MT SAC (9/23/13)
The men had a good weekend at the Mt SAC Invitational last weekend. The team went 1-3 with losses on Friday to Santa Ana 9-6 and Citrus College 18-10, a victory in overtime vs. Southwestern 10-7, and a close loss to Palomar 11-9. Matt Wong led the team in scoring for the weekend with 14 goals and 6 assists. Jacob Oller and Spencer Swezey had 4 goals each, Brandon Howell and Blake Schwartz had 3 goals each, Joe Jaime had 2 goals, Chris Owen, Montero Javier and Andrew Jimenez added 1 goal each.   Dominic Kirby contributed 9 steals for the weekend as well. Kevin Chapman continued his excellent play totalling 64 blocks for the weekend bringing his season total to 126 which leads the state. Next games on Wednesday at home vs. El Camino College and then travel to Fullerton College for a game at 7 pm.
The Panthers suffered a tough loss yesterday to the Long Beach City College Viking, 18-6. Matt Wong led the way with 2 goals, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Brandon Howell had 1 goal, 1 assist and 2 steals. Joe Jaime and Richie Kearney had 1 goal and 1 assist each and Spencer Swezey added a goal to the cause. Kevin Chapman had 14 saves in the contest giving him 62 on the year good for second in the state to date. Travis Sapp added 4 saves in the cage as well. Next game is Friday at 1:50 pm at the MSAC tournament vs. Santa Ana College.
The men pulled out two wins over the weekend to start the 2013 season 2-2. The Panthers fell to Fullerton and Santa Monica Friday before toppling LA Trade Tech and San Diego Miramar both with double digit margins. The men open the South Coast Conference season Wednesday, hosting Long Beach at 4:15 pm.
