Umoja, (a Kiswahili word meaning unity) is a community and critical resource dedicated to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences of our California Community College students. The Umoja community serves at risk, educationally, and economically disadvantaged and African American students. Umoja exists to close the achievement gap.

Why participate in the Umoja Program?

  • Annual Umoja Community Regional Symposium and Conferences
The Chaffey College Umoja program will:
  • Intentionally, academically and socially support students and follow-up with them
  • Provide critical resources to move students forward towards completion and/or transfer to a UC, CSU, HBCU and various careers
  • Seek and share culturally relevant classroom and life experiences, activities and programs, to enhance and impact the students Chaffey College learning
  • Prepare and showcase students as leaders on campus, in the community and throughout the state of California.
