About the Faculty and Staff

Christa Havenhill El-Said
Assistant Professor

Christa received her B.A. in Theatre from Fresno State University and her M.F.A. in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University. Upon graduation, Christa earned her equity card performing at The Welk Resort in Escondido. She immediately left to perform as lead singer/dancer onboard Royal Caribbean's Vision of the Seas for 7 months where she was able to save enough money to move to New York City. There, she took various acting workshops, commercial classes, saw numerous Broadway productions and auditioned for everything imaginable. She has appeared in numerous regional productions and commercials in New York, Colorado, and California.

Prior to being hired at Chaffey College, Christa taught theatre and dance at as adjunct faculty member for four years at MSJC's Menifee Valley Campus. She also served as a judge for the Inland Theatre League and was the proud owner of Studio “C” which specialized in audition coaching and headshots for actors in Temecula. Christa has earned a handful of I.T.L. awards and nominations for her various roles and direction.

Recent roles include: Pam in The Full Monty at Candlelight Pavilion, Karen in The Children’s Hour at Chaffey College, and Woman #1 in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at Murrieta Repertory. Other favorites include: Sandy in Grease, Laurey in Oklahoma! and Nellie in South Pacific, all at the Historic Ramona Bowl Amphitheatre.

Directorial credits at Chaffey include: Grease, The Wiz, Bat Boy: The Musical, and All In The Timing. Additional Directorial credits include: The Miracle Worker (Menifee Lab Theatre), Aladdin and The Wonderful Lamp (Riverside Community Players) and an original country revue Broadway At Sunset (Courtyard Dinner Theatre). She also choreographed the Rancho Cucamonga Community Theatre production of Oliver! at the Lewis Family Playhouse.

Though Christa specializes in Musical Theatre, her most important role to date is the one titled “Claire’s Mom.”
