(ONTARIO, CA.) - The Chaffey College Governing Board will hold their 16th Annual Report to the Community Luncheon Tuesday, October 13th 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Doubletree Hotel Ontario Airport. The event will highlight the college’s growth over the last year, construction updates, inspirational student and alumni stories, as well as plans for the upcoming years.

“Chaffey College is at the epicenter of a rich and powerful mix of resources, opportunities, talent and potential,” stated Chaffey Community College District Governing Board President Gary George. “The college makes connections among people, programs, services and employers, enabling both individual achievement and regional economic growth. Serving over 800,000 residents, the college has a significant economic impact on the region and is the catalyst for growth in the Inland Empire.”

Over the last year, Chaffey College has experienced unprecedented growth, serving the highest number of students in college history. Growth incentives by the state have allowed the college to add over 300 classes for the fall semester, increase student service and instructional support hours, and expand the popular Weekend College programs to all three campuses. Growth projects focus on degree and certificate completion courses and student services such as counseling.

“Last May, we conferred the highest number of degrees and certificates in college history. Our faculty and staff are committed to student success and that shows in our completion rates and district wide growth,” said Dr. Henry Shannon, Chaffey College Superintendent/President. “Looking to the future, our Governing Board has provided excellent stewardship and community commitment. We are poised for continued growth, adapting to changing technology to meet the needs of the local job market and to prepare students for transfer to colleges and universities nationwide.”

Facility improvements and sustainability efforts at all three Chaffey College campuses will be highlighted at the Report to Community event, including an update on Measure L funded
projects. Recent improvements include the construction of a Thermal Energy Storage tank on the Rancho Cucamonga Campus, as well as transition to drought tolerant landscaping at all campuses. The district has cut water and energy usage at all three campuses, meeting or exceeding local and state water conservation targets.

Established in 1883, Chaffey College was one of the first colleges to be established in California and offers associate degrees, as well as vocational and transfer programs in a wide variety of subjects. Courses are offered at campuses in Rancho Cucamonga, Chino, and Fontana, as well as online through the Distance Education program.
