RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA. - Chaffey College Athletics is pleased to announce the reinstatement of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country beginning Fall 2015. Adding Cross Country to the superior lineup of teams better serves our local community and rounds out the college’s existing athletic programs. Additionally, the high schools within the college’s district have many great cross country programs from which to recruit student-athletes and the region offers a superior training environment for distance runners. The college last competed in cross country in 1993, winning conference championships in 1989 and 1990. A California Community College Athletic Association conferencing decision has not been determined at this time.

“To enhance the Chaffey College Athletics program, we are pleased to announce the addition of Men’s and Women’s Cross Country,” said Jeff Klein, Interim Athletic Director. “I believe our community will welcome the two new additions and we look forward to the day track and field will rejoin our family. Our coaching staff has a rich pool of talented runners from the local high schools and I am confident that we will be able to assemble a competitive team.”

Due to the condition of the track and the cost involved in bringing it up to competition and training standards, the college has opted to place its Men’s and Women’s Track & Field program on hiatus. As funds become available to repair the facility, the college’s track program will be reinstated. The estimate to repair the existing track is $2 million and would likely come from a private donor or bond measure. It is our goal to provide only the highest quality academic services and athletic facilities to our students and the community.

Chaffey College Athletics fields fourteen teams annually including football, volleyball, water polo, soccer, basketball, baseball, softball, swim, and cross country in the Foothill, South Coast, and National Central conferences. Panther Athletics has a rich history dating back to the founding of the college in 1883.
