(Rancho Cucamonga, CA) Tonight, May 21, Chaffey College will recognize the accomplishments of graduates for the 2014-15 academic year at the college’s 98th commencement ceremony to be held in Grigsby Stadium on the Rancho Cucamonga Campus. The processional begins at 6:00 p.m. The University of California, Riverside Pipe Band will lead the graduates off the field after commencement with a reception immediately following.

Dr. Henry Shannon, superintendent/president, will give the 2015 commencement address. Joining
Dr. Shannon on the platform will be the Chaffey College Governing Board, members of the college administration, Chaffey College Foundation Vice President Dr. Loren Sanchez, as well as ASCC President Carlotta Bohon and Past President Nima Moravedje Torbaty. Bohon and Torbaty will present the class gift and introduce the college’s Faculty and Staff of the Year, Angela Cardinale (English professor) and Anita Fletcher (Financial Aid Specialist).

Chaffey College faculty and staff continue to focus on student success and program completion. Graduates of the class of 2015 earned more degrees and certificates than any other Chaffey College graduating class. A total of 3,473 awards are expected to be conferred at tonight’s ceremony.

"We are very proud of the Chaffey College Class of 2015," stated Dr. Henry Shannon. "These are amazing students, each with an inspiring story of obstacles and accomplishments," he added.
The Class of 2015 has made history with their achievements: 1,937 students earned a degree
or certificate, a 19% increase over the previous year.

2014-15 Graduation Statistics:

    • Total number of graduates for the summer, fall and spring semesters: 1,937 graduates
       (312 more gradates than in 2013-14)
    • Total number degrees and certificates conferred in 2014-15: 3,473 awards a 5.9% increase
       over 2013-14
       (most in the college's history)

    • Total number of Associate in Arts or Science degrees earned in summer, fall and spring
       semesters: 2,298 degrees awarded
       (1,384 AA degrees, 449 AS degrees, 465 Associate Degrees for Transfer)
    • This is the first time in the college's history that more than 2,000 degrees will be conferred
    • Represents an increase of 316 associate degrees over last year (15.97% increase)
    • Total number of certificates to be conferred in 2014-15: 1,175 certificates

Award Earner Characteristics:
    • The average grade point average of 2014-15 degree/certificate earners is 3.12 (GPA)
    • The youngest degree/certificate earner is 17 years old, while the oldest degree/certificate
       earner is 73 years old.
    • 27.7% of degree and certificate earners are 30 years of age or older; 11.7% are 40 years+;
       and 4.6% are 50 years+
    • More than 58% of award earners are female

For those unable to attend the evening’s festivities, the Chaffey College Commencement
ceremony will be streamed on the internet. Families and friends have the opportunity to
