(Rancho Cucamonga, CA) The Chaffey College Economic Development Department is offering a one year Automotive Repair Technician program. The two semester program begins Monday, January 11, 2010. The program, funded through ARRA federal stimulus funds, is designed to train San Bernardino County residents for jobs in the automotive technology field.

Chaffey College was the recipient of more than $700,000 in federal stimulus funds approved through the San Bernardino County Workforce Investment Board earlier this year to be used for six training courses.

The Automotive Repair Technician program is being offered as a non-credit program for students to gain entry-level skills in automotive technology. The topics covered in the 3 semester course include: brakes, steering, suspension, alignment, general automotive overall, electrical, fuel emissions, and other automotive related topics. Students completing the program will receive certification necessary for employment in the automotive technology field. Courses will be held on the Chaffey College Rancho Cucamonga Campus and taught by Chaffey instructors, Bruce Osburn and Sherm Taylor.

Registration for the Automotive Repair Technician program is open now. Interested students are encouraged to contact the office of Economic Development as soon as possible, space is limited.
