How do you respond to the parent of a student who insists on requesting information regarding their son or daughter? What do you do when a student calls to request personal information about their record? How do you handle a situation when a law enforcement officer requests information regarding our students? Is it acceptable for any employee to access information regarding a student? Is it appropriate for instructors to post grades outside their classroom? How do we handle release of information during events such as 9-11?

As employees of Chaffey College, we all have been faced with these types of scenarios and most of the time we are unsure of how to respond. In this workshop you will learn about the law, historical background, penalties if we do not comply, recent amendments and key terms. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and participate in a group exercise.
