Baron Brown
Criminal Justice
(909) 652-6843

Baron Brown is a college professor, and he has enjoyed success in three different careers; Higher Education; Law Enforcement, and; the U.S. Military. His primary work experience has been in Criminal Justice Systems, Law, and Police Sciences. He worked in law enforcement for over 21 years, working in multiple field, investigative, supervisory and administrative assignments, ultimately retiring as a sergeant from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Baron served his country for over 26 years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve, having deployed to three countries and participated in military campaigns in response to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.  He ascended to the rank of Captain, having served as a manager and liaison officer for the Department of Homeland Security, The White House and U.S. Congress, reporting directly to the Asst. Secretary of Homeland Security. He also served as a Senior Reserve Officer for several Coast Guard units, and a Senior Admissions Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, promoting diversity in their admissions efforts, and assisting them in 2014 in attaining the most diverse class of cadets entering the Academy. He has served as the department head of an Intelligence Division with a joint unit of the U.S Coast Guard and U.S. Navy.  This combination of patrol, investigative and military experience is coupled with two Master’s degrees and extensive public speaking experience, which prepared him well for his final career as a college professor. He specializes in Public Policy and Criminal Justice, Leadership and Management, Homeland and National Security, and the Criminal Justice System.  Baron has been happily married for over 30 years, and he and his wife enjoy their 4 children and a grandchild. The happy couple has been both foster and adoptive parents, and have always been committed to helping those who are trying diligently to help themselves. And finally, in the spirit of always wanting to help others, in 2015 Baron created a non-profit organization that provides scholarships and grants for working class and middle class community college students, and it is part of the Chaffey College Foundation list of scholarships.
