Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Wignall Museum/Gallery is pleased to announce, TALL STORIES, an exhibition of drawing, painting, installation, and mixed-media works by ten artists known nationally and internationally for both their leading-edge commercial illustration and fine art projects.  Artists in the exhibition are Rob & Christian Clayton (The Clayton Brothers), P-Jay Fidler, Alex Gross , Jason Holley, Julie Murphy, Martha Rich, Souther Salazar, Erik Sandberg, and Jeff Soto . The exhibition opens on Monday, August 23 - Friday and continues through Saturday, October 2, 2004.  The opening reception will be held on Friday, August 27, 6:00-9:00 p.m. The exhibition and the reception are free and open to the public.

The artists in TALL STORIES move freely between the world of commercial illustration and contemporary art and back again, expanding and energizing both worlds in the process.  Drawing inspiration from classic mythology, folk art, antique sign painting, and dark fairytales--as well as popular culture, contemporary painting, and Japanese anime--the artists in TALL STORIES immerse us in idiosyncratic landscapes inhabited by complex and empathetic characters.

All alumni of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, the influence and inspiration this group of artists and educators share with one another is unmistakable. Taken together, these vibrant works represent some of the most intriguing developments in contemporary illustration today, as well as provide a unique glimpse into a vital creative community of emerging and established artists.

TALL STORIES was curated by Rebecca Trawick, Assistant Curator of Wignall Museum/Gallery.

TALL STORIES will be on view from Monday, August 23 - Saturday, October 2, 2004. An artist's reception will be held on Friday, August 27 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.  The reception is free and open to the public.
