NIGHT WITH SANTA CELEBRATES 20 YEARS OF HELPING STUDENT FAMILIES
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Chaffey College will celebrate its 20th annual Night with Santa on Thursday, December 8. The program began in 1991 as a vision of a Chaffey employee. This year, the program will serve 115 Chaffey College student families including 250 children, the largest number in the program's history.
Night with Santa is a program hosted by the Chaffey College Office of Student Activities and sponsored by Associated Students of Chaffey College and Sam's Club. Families are treated to a provide dinner and gifts to the children, aged 2-12 years old. In addition to presents, children are enjoy face painting, a petting zoo and a visit with Santa Claus. This year, a Book Elf will also be distributing books to children in attendance. Families also receive holiday decorations and trees, dinner and a photo keepsake of the evening's festivities.
Toys, books, and monetary donations were collected from Chaffey College faculty, staff and clubs in order to continue this annual program. Several student clubs also contributed funds and toys to Night with Santa in the spirit of Students Helping Students.
"As you can imagine, in this economy, Night with Santa is a high demand program," commented Susan Stewart, Director of Student Activities and founder of the program. "This year we will serve 115 families, 80% of which are first time recipients. Night with Santa is an amazing experience, filled with the joy and laughter of children," added Stewart.
Over the last two decades more than 1,700 students and their families have been touched by the Night with Santa program.
This program is another example of how the Chaffey College faculty, staff, and students give back to the community.
