August 19, 2010 Contact: Peggy Cartwright Director of Marketing and Public Relations 909/652-6115 For Immediate Release NEW CENTER FOR THE ARTS COMPLEX TO BE DEDICATED (Rancho Cucamonga) Chaffey College officials will host a dedication ceremony to officially open the Center for the Arts complex on the Rancho Cucamonga Campus. Construction of the Center for the Arts main building began in February 2008 and was completed in December 2009. The amazing new three-story 32,641 square feet building can be seen from the valley. A dedication ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 24 from 4:30 pm to 7:00pm. The ceremony will begin in the Center for the Arts with speakers including Gary George, Governing Board president, Dr. Shannon, superintendent/president, Ardon Alger, faculty senate president, John Machado, art history professor, and Michael Dinielli, school of visual, performing, and communication arts dean. The Center for the Arts is an incredible learning facility. The opportunities in the building are numerous.
Two existing buildings were remodeled within the project. The studio art and three-dimensional art buildings were reconstructed to enhance the ceramics and art disciplines. A formal building dedication ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2010. The program begins at 5:15p.m.with a welcome from the Governing Board president, Gary George and ends with a plaque unveiling. Following the program, guests will be taken on guided tours and student demonstrations of each of these four buildings. The Chaffey College dedication ceremony is open to the public and is free.
