CHAFFEY COLLEGE TOP 100 COLLEGES NATIONWIDE IN THREE RANKINGS

(RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA.) - Chaffey College was recently ranked as a top community college in the United States by WalletHub, Rate My Professors, and
Community College Week. Data used to determine ranking include success, retention, and transfer rates, as well cost and faculty reviews.

“I am extremely proud of the hard work and commitment exhibited by Chaffey College’s faculty, staff and students. These national rankings are confirmation that Chaffey College is truly a world-class institution,” stated Dr. Henry Shannon, superintendent/president. “The data clearly shows that the college continues to increase student success rates well beyond the national and state-wide averages. While other colleges are experiencing declines, Chaffey has seen continual growth in enrollment, completion and transfer. I attribute this to the hard work of our students and the commitment to providing quality education in the Inland Empire that begins with our governing board and extends to all levels of the college.”

A recent report released by
Community College Week Magazine identified the top two- and four-year colleges and universities that awarded degrees and certificates in the 2013-14 academic year. In this report, Chaffey College ranked 79th in the nation among 5.549 public and private institutions that conferred at least one associate degree. Chaffey ranks 55th among all two-year institutions (public and private) nationwide and 10th among the 113 California Community Colleges in number of associate degrees conferred. Despite a nationwide decrease in total number of degrees awarded, Chaffey has experience an 18.9% increase. Increases have also been seen significant increases in degrees awarded to African American, Hispanic, and Asian students.

Additionally, the college ranked 67th nationally and 15th in the state for certificates awarded; an increase of 9.4% from 2012-13 to 2013-14. As with degrees, significant increases were made in minority student certificate completion.

In WalletHub’s annual report of the Best & Worst Community Colleges in the United States (September 2015), Chaffey College was ranked 19th nationally, 4th in California, and the highest ranked community college in Southern California. Rankings were based on cost and financing, classroom experience, educational outcomes, and career outcomes. The list included 670 two-year colleges nationwide. https://wallethub.com/edu/best-worst-community-colleges/15076/

Finally, the 2015 Rate My Professors Highest Rated Junior and Community Colleges ranking (released October 2015) placed Chaffey College as the number 3 school in the nation based on student reviews of faculty members. Chaffey College was the #2 ranked school in California, with Santa Barbara City College coming in first place. http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/blog/toplist/top-jr-colleges-2014-2015

“To be recognized by three separate, respected entities on a wide variety of criteria really speaks to the quality of experience Chaffey College offers students,” Shannon continued. “Whether based on instruction, student services, or cost of attendance, all three recent reports illustrate the same thing; Chaffey College is one of the finest colleges in the United States.”

Established in 1883, Chaffey College was one of the first colleges to be established in California and offers associate degrees, as well as vocational and transfer programs in a wide variety of subjects. Courses are offered at campuses in Rancho Cucamonga, Chino, and Fontana, as well as online through the Distance Education program.
