CHAFFEY COLLEGE ANNOUNCES 2014-15 GOVERNING BOARD OFFICERS
Trustee Gary George was elected President

(Rancho Cucamonga) The Governing Board for the Chaffey Community College District announced its officers for 2014-15. The announcement was made at the regular Board meeting on Thursday, December 19, 2014.
    The 2014-2015 Chaffey College Governing Board Officers are:
    President – Gary George
    Vice President – Paul Gomez
    Clerk – Katie Roberts
    Member – Kathy Brugger
    Immediate Past President – Lee McDougal
Gary George was elected to serve as the 2014-2015 Governing Board President. He has served as a Governing Board member since 2000 and prior to being a Chaffey College trustee, George was a member of the Chaffey College Foundation Board. He was the external affairs manager at Verizon before retiring. George, a resident of Chino, was instrumental in establishing the Chino Campus and currently serves on the Chaffey College Chino Community Center Oversight Committee.

Paul Gomez was elected to serve as the Governing Board vice president. Gomez has been a Chaffey College trustee since 1990 and is the longest serving trustee in the history of the college. Katie Roberts has been a trustee since 2001 and was elected to the Governing Board clerk position. Kathy Brugger, will serve as Governing Board member and was elected as the representative on the San Bernardino County Committee School District Organization. Brugger was elected to the Chaffey College governing board in 1993. Lastly, Lee McDougal, interim city manager of the city of Riverside, will hold the title of immediate past president.

"I'm looking forward to my year as President of the Chaffey College  Governing Board, one of the most respected boards of one of the most respected community colleges in the nation,” said George. This will be the third time he will serve as Board President, he served in this role in 2004-05 and 2009-10.

“These five individuals are extremely professional and truly dedicated to Chaffey College and its students,” said Dr. Henry Shannon, superintendent/president. The Governing Board is dedicated to fulfilling the Chaffey College mission by providing quality education and services to students in the Chaffey College district.

The role of the governing board is to directly represent the community of the college’s district in determining policies and making decisions, which govern the operation of the district and the college.
