What to do if you are Waitlisted, or would like to add an online class
Online classes at Chaffey College are very popular and often times fill the first few weeks of registration. It is possible to add an online class, just as you would a face-to-face class, but because online classes are not held in a physical location, the process is a little different. As in any other case, you should always have a back-up scheduling plan, in case you are not able to add the desired online class.
Quick Instructions
1. Add yourself to the course waitlist in ChaffeyView.
2. Contact the instructor using the link on the Current Course List. Links are available one week prior to the start date of the course through the first week of the class.
Detailed Instructions
Adding to an online class is a two step process.
1.
The first step is to add yourself to the waitlist of the course through ChaffeyView. Waitlists become available on ChaffeyView one week prior to the start of the class.
2. The second step in the process is to contact the instructor to let them know you would like to add the class, just as you would attend the first class meeting in a face-to-face class. To contact the instructor, go to the Current Course List and find the class you've been waitlisted on. In each course description there will be a link (red section number). This link will take you to a form that will be submitted to contact the instructor. The links are only available for two weeks. They are made available after noon on the Monday before the class starts, and remain available until the end of the first week of the class. Example: Start date of the class is 1/11/10. The contact link will be available after noon on 1/4/10 and will remain available through 1/15/10, or until the the instructor has received enough requests to fill the class.
If you would like to add an online class, and are not on the waitlist you will also need to contact the instructor to let him/her know that you are interested in adding the course by following the instructions above.
Once the class has started, the instructor will be able to determine how many spaces are available and will respond via e-mail to those students whom they will be able to add. In the responding e-mail the instructor will provide you with an authorization code when used in conjunction with the section code, can be used to add the class through ChaffeyView or in person. You will not be able to add the class until the start date of the class, even if you receive the authorization code prior to the start of the class.
Instructors receive numerous requests to add and do not respond to those students who they are not able to add. If you have not heard back from the instructor by the end of the first week of instruction, you most likely are not going to be able to add the course and you should consider using your back up plan.
