New Construction: (ScienceComplex)

The new Science Complex houses faculty offices and laboratories for the Chemistry and Biology Departments. The Science Complex includes the following facilities.

Muriel M. Zimmermann Hall     (+ Life Science Library).

Richard M. Beeks Laboratory    (+ Herbarium)
James R. DesLauries Laboratory   (+ Zoology collections, Population Biology)

 Aviary

This new Aviary is being constructed to replace the existing Aviary, as it is scheduled for demolition. When it is completed, the new Aviary will demonstrate a broad range of habitats, in which a diverse array of birds, amphibians, and reptiles can breed, providing all of the opportunities for students that they now derive from the existing Aviary.

Demonstration Landscaping

In cooperation with the Tree Committee, the faculty of the Biology Department is working on the landscaping design of the Science Complex. The goals are to demonstrate plant diversity, important plant communities, major biological principles (such as convergent evolution), and to provide habitats that will attract foraging and nesting birds and insects.
